Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

When I spoke to my council a couple of weeks ago they said the HO told them they expected to clear the backlog by the end of November. So it seems already then they knew the end of October timeline is not feasible, at least for some of the councils. I hope they are working on it at least, but it se...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Astonishing numbers @baybars1 . With making that much money should be absolutely no problem to introduce a track & trace system for invites, certificates, etc... They can even roll out virtual ceremonies by providing software to councils. Probably they are not interested in investing money in t...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

@baybars Exactly why can't they make an exception due to the pandemic by sending the certificate same time , they send the approval email and then you can print it out and apply for passport... better than going for ceremony. And with all the new lockdown coming in, councils will want to start givi...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

It is quite possible that the model will prove outdated very soon. I'll try and update the projections once I know more. Early July approved received their invitations just a few days after they were dated which was unusually quick. Maybe they were just lucky and the mid July approvals will arrive ...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Just spoke to my council, not the greatest of news... The very friendly lady said that even though they were receiving a weekly batch, they are now receiving them less often and have not had one for a couple of weeks. Baybars1, your model was spot on for a long time, but I have a feeling this is go...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

If they just added a function to check the status of the application online they would get a lot less calls and emails. For those approved, they could perhaps distinguish among; approved, ceremony invite awaiting printing, queue number 12345 ceremony invite printed ceremony invite sent by 2nd class...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Hello all kind people, I completely understand the stress and hope of us. My council's website is mentioning "If after three months of being approved you have still not had a Home Office Invitation Letter feel free to contact us". Hence, indicatively we may expect to get our invitation le...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Hi, I am from Hounslow council, approval came in 24th Aug. 03001232253 says all letters will be arriving before 30th Oct as HO is catching up. Let’s see. I doubt all the letters will arrive in 15 days. Maybe they actually plan to sent all the letters for people approved before 7th of August when th...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Hi everyone, I have been following this thread since I got approved in mid August. I have found everyone´s comments to be very useful and I wish everyone luck for their ceremonies. I read about another user changing their address during this process and it confused me. I am planning on redirecting ...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Invitation letter received! Approval was middle of June and the date on the letter is 23rd September, which gives me like 3 working days of leeway to book the ceremony lol (it states 21 days from the date on the letter which seems a little tight to me all things considered). I'll phone Brent counci...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

I'm starting to believe it is actually random. They answered N1234 they receiving certificates from May, but they also received his from July. I think it is 8-12 weeks from 8-12 weeks before certificate is printed.

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Guys, I'm just a bit curious. I believe you all got an email and an approval letter. But I spoke to my lawyer today and was told she didn't get an email. She only got an approval letter on 16th of June and another approval letter in the following week. Kind of weird. Did you all get an email confir...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Perhaps the most promising way to figure out the likely length of the delay would be to reach out to the relevant local council's registrar and ask them how the process has been progressing from their end. Home Office seems unlikely to be very helpful with enquiries as to individual cases within th...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Looks like they just decided to ignore the email approvals and carry on business as usual I don’t think they ignore it, but it seems the ones approved by email from April to somewhere in August are the backlog they work off slowly and the ones from later in August when they decided to send decision...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

A lot of EU citizens have applied early this year to be done with everything by the end of the year and the end of the transition period. However as the situation appears to be chaotic as councils often claim they would book people in, but HO doesn’t send any other certificates than from March it l...
