Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Another September 2020 application progressing. I'm very glad that things are moving apace, especially for those who are waiting for work and family reasons. Applied online: 28th Aug 2020 Docs received email: 3rd Sept 2020 Address confirmation email: 21st Oct 2022 My confirmation email was from a na...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

If your theory is true, FBR will now go down drastically, since ceremony on June 20th will cause a heap of new Irish citizens by naturalization apply for a passport. They've hired some temporary staff to Passport office, but doubt it'll be enough to keep passport processing speed on the same level....

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

It's great to hear that the backlog has reached Feb 20. Another 6 months or so till they reach my application, I reckon. Made some soda bread for breakfast today-I can feel the Irishness growing inside me! Oh, in case anyone's interested, an Etsy shop called Flashything offers blinky shamrock badges...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I guess tone is lost in text- it was a joke...I will also continue my stoic wait - also letting the FBR staff get on with their jobs. I am sure my post didn't disrupt them. I supposed you were joking but there's a certain minority on here who would like nothing less than an Amazon Prime level of se...

Wish they could send a wee update email... you are 2250th in line!?
If that happened this forum would be swamped with posts from people comparing and moaning about their queue numbers. Myself, I'm happy to remain stoic and let the FBR staff get on with their jobs in peace.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

<SNIP> Thanks. My issue is that I applied online in March but held off sending my documents because they've asked us not to. The passport expired in May. I'm furious to think I've held myself up by actually doing what they asked. I've seen others comment that it was futile sending them while proces...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thanks. Sadly she doesn’t drive so the passport is all the official ID she has. Haven’t sent the docs yet so if they definitely won’t accept a recently expired (May 2021) certified copy of a passport then it looks like I’ll have to get hers renewed. They really should specify that the passport shou...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi everyone! I submitted my application form in March 2021, so not long ago compared to some! I’ve been dutifully waiting to send my supporting docs from the UK since. My case is a relatively straightforward one, I think. Irish granddad born in 1916 with all docs present and correct. I’ve just foun...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I don't think this has been posted about yet-apologies if it has. The Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs took priority questions about FBR in the Dáil on 30th September. Here's the link (https://www.oireachtas.ie/en/debates/debate/dail/2021-09-30/) and for those that want to watch the video recordin...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

<SNIP> Before I pass on my details for addition to the application spreadsheet, I had two questions/observations: 1. Has anyone submitted an application for two or more applicants at the same time (ie siblings) and if so, have you had any success? I actually submitted a triple application for me, m...

In the seeming absence of moderators or rules for this thread, those of you that would prefer a little less noise might be interested to know that there is a friends & foes section under your user profile. Before anyone cries "censorship!", it isn't.

Hi guys, been a bit of a lurker but haven't seen an exact answer to my q, I've heard from friends that there is a time limit once you have completed the online application form to send it off with the supporting documents. I paid my fee on 15/11/20 and have obviously not been able to send it off du...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

(Wishful) thinking ahead to my passport application... I am female and usually use my husband’s surname. I live in France where it’s normal for women to use their maiden name and, indeed, my EU covid vaccination passport is in my maiden name only. So I think it would be useful to have both my maide...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I was just flipping through my new (UK) passport and at the back there is printed a map of the UK isles, however according to this map, the Republic of Ireland appears not to exist!!!!! I would have thought they would at least outline the whole island of Ireland and then shade in the Northern Irela...

Re: Registering a foreign birth, question about marriage cert

Can someone please answer this for me? Original civil marriage certificate (if applicable) OR other change of name document (if applicable) My interpretation of this line is that's about tracking surname changes in the line of descent. In my case, I am claiming citizenship through my maternal Irish...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

1 - Would be great if someone could tell the rough process 2- Also when are they restarting FBR processing? Hi All, I'm an Aug 19 applicant so hoping will hear in the next couple of months (when things open again). Can somebody who now has their passport explain about the passport process? Does anyone know if it is allowed to send in 2 fbr applications at the same time if the 2 people share the same proof documents?
Yes, sometimes siblings. See section 'Other Questions' in the FAQ: https://www.dfa.ie/citizenship/born-abr ... cent-faqs/
