Is it must spouse name in husbands passport?

Hi I got married in Aug 2007 and now applied for HSMP. But my passport does not have spouse name included. Whereas my wife has my name included in her passport. So is it compulsory that i should have spouse name included in my passport? Pls suggest. Thanks for tips :) Have a nice Day!!! Cheers ashok
