Re: Questions about application for ILR based on 10 years?

Hi guys! I held a student visa from June 1999 (first entered UK on September 1999) untill January 2007 and I'm hold a WP visa at the moment. My application for the WP and FLR was sent before January 2007 via a solicitor and it took 2 months to be processed so my WP is valid from March 2007 untill M...

Tell you what, look at the home office application forms for extending a student visa and applying for a workpermit: for a student visa - you need to provide satisfactiry evidence in the current visa that you have been given student visa for. For workpermit - you just need to provide uk degree certi...

No different to what would happen in Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United States. If thats the case, they should abolish that rule only for new entrants as of sometime, say people coming in 2009. The 10 year rule is already there and well established, it won't be fair on the current immigra...

Thats ok. I switched from my student visa to workpermit within the UK. I did it, if your law firm insisting that they right then they are wrong, coz i did it. If you look into the workpermit rules the requirements for the workpermit is you need a UK degree, doesn't state you have to complete your cu...

Wondered how those with LTR outside the Rules will be disposed of? I meant those with Discretionary Leave who can apply for ILR after 6 years. I am just thinking why there is a need for pre-assumption discussion on this topic. There is no proposal in place stating long-residence schemes being taken...

http://www.uk-wp.com/ It is possible to switch to work permit immigration status only from a small number of other types of visas. For example, a visitor may not switch to work permit status, and nor may a dependent, or a student who has not graduated with a degree during his or her stay. ---. I ap...

You don't need to have completed the current course to change to the workpermit. You just need a UK degree.

How many days did you have gaps in your ILR application, just out of interest.

I totally agree with you. I'm just saying that for your own sanity, if you can find your way into one of their favoured categories, do it. It will still qualify you for the ten-year rule should it still be around in Sep 09. However, if the HO decide suddenly to get all arsey and retrospective about...

Totally agree, I have been on and off the workpermit/student visa and hoping to apply for ILR in sept 2009 under the 10 year rule. The consultation documentation has not been passed through the legislation neither it has been approved. According the guardian these rules will not come into effect unt...

Re: The end of the 10/14 year settlement paths?

Within today's consultation document, I did not find any reference to the long stay paths at all, and following the logic put forth, I would not be surprised if they are removed entirely from the Immigration Rules. This is the future, non-EEA kids: You've got to put yourself on one of the three pat...

... and I applied for the work permit visa in the same month. Can you confirm that you applied for FLR(IED) before the expiry of your student visa, i.e. before 31 Aug 2005? If yes, you were not an overstayer. But unfortunately, the problem is not there. Having left the country when your leave to re...

Re: Home Office Database has no record of my arrival in 1997

I received my SAR in the post today. I am a non-visa national. I was granted a 2-year student visa when I arrived at the airport in Sept 1997 to start my undergraduate degree. However, the SAR document shows that the Home Office computer database has no record of me landing in the UK in Sept 1997 t...
