I know exactly how you are feeling. I was in the same position as you for more than four years. Please read my posts and you will understand that going back is the best and quickest way forward. I don't know the exact details of your case, but it did work for me and I was allowed back to the uk havi...

Either way, you're going to be eligible to apply sooner (after 3 years or after 5 years) without taking into account any previous, unlawful period. As you say, you can relax now for a while. I don't remember where I read it, but I think I do qualify after holding an Indefinite Leave to remain for o...

There are other criteria that you need to fulfil apart from length of residence, including passing the Life in the UK Test: have you looked at this page and related pages from the BIA website? I did look at the web page and I think you are right. So my previous 4 years residence in the uk wouldn't ...

Thanks Chirstophe for the prompt reply.
You said I would be granted Indefinite leave to remain as as I enter the uk. But do I have to do anything or apply for anything to get it??? And the next step, when will I be able to apply for natrulisation??
Thank you.

Hi there: Sorry to jump in into this topic, but I am in a simillar position and would appreciate any advice about my case. It was an application for extension of leave to remain if that would help.

How long does it take to return a passport from the HO??

Could someone tell me how long would it take for the HO to send a passport back after you withdraw an outstanding application and arrange to leave the country voluntarily? And is there anyway to speed it up?? like go and collect it in person or something else?

Thanks

I think it is your solicitor's intellectually property which you may be deemed to have stolen and distributed by doing this, and if anyone did it to me I'd be LIVID! Your case is too complex to be dealt with here, and as you have already stated that you do not want 'non professional' advice, I thin...

I can't blame you from trying to apply outside the rules or dream that there may be a loophole. We were exactly the same for 7 years. From reading this forum and other related information on the web it soon became very clear there weren't any and an in country application would be futile even thoug...

If you submitted an application for ltr before the visitor visa expired, then you wouldn't be in the same lot as the overstayers who didn't try to work within the rules. I did not know at the time, otherwise I would not have been in this position and I would not particularly choose to be. So there ...
