Came across this video from July 2020 advising re the Foreign Birth Registration process and produced by the Irish Consulate in San Francisco - looks very useful for new applicants.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

You need Birth and Marriage certificates for each generation and death certificates for your father/grandfather. Ensure you have original long-form Birth certifcates for England as these include the parents details. (The short form only has the child's details.) Good luck - it's good to see posts of...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi Colfla, Even though they are not processing I can't believe they would actually destroy post sent to the FBR service. But until you have had your email from the FBR team you are bound to be worrying. Maybe you could try and get some reassurance from An Post - they have a contact page with both a ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hello Tom, I wouldn't worry if I were you. You are in the exact same position as many on here. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any contact open with the FBR team during the lockdown. I applied just a few months before you in late August 2019 and like you have heard nothing beyond the original...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thought I would post for the benefit of others. I have 2 siblings who applied separately in July 2019. Both have now received their FBR certificates. Each has had a slightly different timeline because of the lockdowns. I had confirmation of documents received 26/8/19 but so far have heard nothing. I...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I am not going to add my timeline, as I just applied (sigh, let the long journey begin) - but I am curious, there are so many FBR applicants. Is this all in efforts to actually live in Ireland? Or is it mostly due to Brexit? I expect there are a wide variety of reasons for applying for FBR. In addi...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

So the FBR website still says "The processing of Foreign Birth Registrations has been paused until Dublin returns to Level 3 on the National Framework for Living with COVID-19." I understood that the whole of Ireland was now in Level 3. Is that not the case? :| They seem to update...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

So as of tomorrow Ireland is leaving Level 5 and re-entering Level 3 of the National Framework for Living with COVID-19. Hoping this means the FBR should start processing again but the phases are a bit confusing. Foreign Birth Registrations The processing of Foreign Birth Registrations will resume ...
