Re: Foreign Birth Registration

You know, I wasn't going to reply to Sulla. I was just going to keep my mouth shut. But his post has been nagging on me and I have to say something. I am a professional litigator. As far as I am concerned, the folks in Ireland are doing their best under bad conditions. First, they had Brexit and th...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

1. Do I need to put the application number on the back of all these docs to make sure they link back to my application? 2. Did you send your documents tracked from the UK? 3. How did you get your docs back? Do you have to send a stamped addressed envelope or is it all in the fee and they just retur...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

The reason an FBR application is sped-up is so that the next generation will not miss the opportunity to become Irish. If you are already Irish by naturalisation your next generation will not miss the oppertunity to become Irish so the process wont be sped-up for unborn children. They unfortunately ...

I'm Feb 14, 2020 so I'm hoping to hear something soon. I have moved since I submitted. Does anyone know if a printout of a utility bills considered "an original"? All of my bills and banking is done online. I don't actually have any bills etc that are mailed to me. From what I have read y...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi All, I am new to the forum. We are expecting the little one in couple of months. Need help on couple of questions: 1. the DoFA website says: "If the expectant parent is not on the Foreign Births Registrar when the child is born, the child will not be entitled to Irish citizenship." How...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I think my Grandad came over from Ireland to Scotland with his family as a child. My dad was born in Scotland. The reason why I was concerned is that my Grandad fought in WW2 with 3 of his brothers, and I wondered if perhaps he needed to be a British citizen to do that? Or renounce his Irish citize...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Congratulations to everyone who are getting their certificates, I'm June 2020 so hoping it's not too long for me now. I've searched for an answer to this but can't find it anywhere - what happens when the address confirmation email/phonecall comes through, and you're not at the same address? Do you...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Will my marital status changing affect the process? I am unsure if I should send the documents in now as an unmarried applicant, wait until I am married, or if I need to restart the whole online application after I am married and file with the marriage documents. Any advice would be greatly appreci...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I am in a similar situation Pb300, my children's FBR FBR docs were received on 7 March 2019 so we have now gone past the 3 year point. I spoke to the FBR urgent enquiries line last week and was told something along the same lines, that were "issues" with some early 2019 applications and a...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi I would like to apply for the FBR. My mum is adopted. My grandmother who adopted her was born in Belfast. Mum does not have an Irish passport and is not on the FBR. Mum is reluctant to give me originals or certified copies of documents. I think I will have to gather my own copies. I can't seem t...

Hello all, just dropping in to leave a link to an 'interesting' article in the Daily Mail - thought the Brits waiting on here may like to read it. Looks like the Brexit penny is eventually dropping for some - Quelle Surprise! - Ganz Unerwartet! https://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-10475013/TO...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

There are forums out there dated from the early 2000's showing regular people had sent FBR applications, been approved then applied and recieved a passport all in a three month period. Simpler times

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi all, does anyone have a list of which documents are accepted as proof of address? I have a bank statement but need something else, and council tax, utility bills etc. aren't in my name. Would a UK driving license be OK? I'm using my passport as proof of ID, so they wouldn't overlap. Thanks! Your...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Does anyone know if ID documents that expire during the wait are still usable by the FBR team. I just remembered that my driving license expired in Oct 2020, it has been renewed but given that my fbr docs were sent to Dublin in March 2020, the fbr team obviously have the old license. I’m also prett...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I’m about to submit my FBR application but sadly I’m estranged from my parents and I don’t even know where they are or how to contact them. This means I can’t get a copy of their ID. Based on others personal experiences, is there anything I can do? Could I attach a cover letter or my Irish PPS card...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi all, I am helping my mom apply for Irish citizenship. She has been married and divorced, so her current surname matches the one on her birth certificate. For this reason, I did not order a copy of her marriage certificate to submit with her FBR application. Is this a mistake? I don't know what u...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Both of my maternal grandparents were born in Ireland, and both are deceased, as is my mother. My birth certificate shows the full names of my parents, including my mother's maiden name. I'm in B.C. Canada, and our government here doesn't issue birth certificates for the deceased. I was able to obt...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi all, I'm helping a friend of mine get her documents together. For the birth certificate requirements, is it enough to have the parent's names? Or do you need the parents ages and/or birthdates? Thank you and appreciate the help. Different countries have different birth certs. In UK the parents n...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Anyone able to help? I'm getting 2 proofs of address and on the FBR website it says 'original' Does this mean that they have to have been sent out to me? Or can I print it off? Re: Foreign Birth Registration

while my application slowly makes its way through, my brother wants to FBR now too. I see mention of joint applications/siblings here. Quick question, is the address confirmation the only other communication you get before you get FBR confirmed?
Unless they need further clarification or questions regarding the information provided, yes.
