Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Also, if you applied in early 2020 then you are almost at the 2 year mark, so you should be near the end I imagine. Do let me know how you get on btw. I'm in the same situation. 2020 was when I was just getting all the certificates together. I had initially thought that "original birth certifi...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Fortunately for me, I was able to get my parent's ID from a sibling, but I did see 2 other posts, 1 might be useful, the other a bit more discouraging. 1st Post: https://www.immigrationboards.com/ireland/foreign-birth-registration-t277641-3800.html#p2031199 My application was not complete. I was mi...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Seeing as it's been clearly stated that they plan on allocating more resources to the FBR with a view of reducing turnaround times, I actually wonder if that current 2 years waiting time could reduce and people who submit might get it slightly earlier than the currently listed time of 2 years? Or a...

You are so lucky that FBR only took less than a month to deal with your pregnancy acceleration. And my pregnancy acceleration has not passed yet
From reading your previous posts I thought the FBR team had told you that your application was not successful & you would not be added to the FBR.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Is calling FBR applicants by phone a new development? It might possibly speed things up a bit instead of emailing (that can often get lost in spam) then waiting for applicants response then applicant waiting further for conformation then waiting for dispatch.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

So, on the application form that you print out after completing the online section, under Sections A, B and C pertaining to the applicant (myself) the Irish citizen parent and then the grandparent (who I am applying on the basis of) in each box for each individual person it has a box that says 'mot...

I'm hoping that's the case and they open it very soon. Because I'm hesitant to submit right now because of an issue I have. Not sure if I've made a mistake on the online application part which I submitted yesterday.
What is your potential mistake?

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

A quick question - does anyone know if you need to send a marriage certificate if there is no name change? I am married but have not changed my name and am applying through my father who did not change his name either. I recommend you send the documents anyway they would still be considered "a...

Long time lurker of this thread here... Irish Passport Service saying that processing of FBR applications is still paused: I thought they were meant to start again once restrictions eased? What they say & what they actually do are frustratingly different things. Unfortunately the whole FBR serv...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi guys. I have a few questions if anybody is able to answer? Firstly, my grandparent whom I intend to apply on the basis of was born in Northern Ireland, but has only ever held a British passport. Would this still mean I'm eligible? Or would she have needed to have held an Irish passport? Secondly...

So, they're closed but they're open. The work is paused but its not. And applications are being worked through in strict order, but (evidently) not.
This is the best explanation of the whole FBR operation.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

My Grandfather was born in County Donegal in 1894 and emigrated to Australia in 1923. I've read all instructions but its still a bit unclear. From what I have read I should be eligible to apply and I have all the relevant document including his original Birth Certificate. It says now you can only a...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hello everyone, I'm ready to give up. The waiting time is too painful. I once planned to join the Irish army after obtaining Irish nationality. Now I have waited too long. I can only learn French. I will join the army in France next year and then naturalize in France I think that's a sensible decis...

"More than 4,500 emergency FBR applications have been processed in 2021." -Simon Coveney Thats quite impressive (if true) considering they have been completely shut down. Also good to see the department of foreign affairs hiring staff specifically for FBR department. (https://www.dfa.ie/ab...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Yeah I don't think FBR Team numbers are particularly relevant. Though not all teams are equal it seems. They work at different speeds. The members of each team are not likely to be the same people 1 or 2 years down the line anyway.

I beleive that I may need to submit some additional documents to my application eventually, does anyone know how to facilitate this or have a contact number I could reach out to?
I believe you are supposed to wait for them to contact you requesting any additional documents.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi, Hoping someone can help with this, I'm applying for FBR on behalf of my son on the basis of my father being born in Ireland. However, he is unable to get current state-issued ID: he's never had a passport, is too young to get a drivers license and apparently the government scrapped ID cards in ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

What is there to be ashamed about having a British passport? I know right? Besides there are plenty of websites that provide leather Irish passport covers that people could put over their British passports if they are that concerned. Seems like a real rigmarole just for the aesthetics of the physic...

Sounds like the best timeline one could ask for right now - congrats! Question: how was the certificate mailed to you, and did you have to sign for it? Not that it matters at the moment (still waiting for address confirmation email), but I’m going to be traveling for about 4 weeks in September, and...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I'm just off to the Post Office to sort out my UK passport application - seeing as I won't be getting my Irish passport with a golden harp on it any time yet. With all due respect I think you need to search for friends on Facebook for random chit-chat. I don't think anyone here needs daily updates ...
