Re: Foreign Birth Registration

As it doesn’t seem unreasonable for me to hope for a ‘confirmation of address’ email over the summer, I’m wondering if it’s best just to let things go to my UK home, or should I inform them of my address in France where I’m currently resident? I don’t want to hold things up. My daughter could post ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I do not like the indifferent way these applications are handled. The tedious delays are compounded by an almost total absence of communication that is unacceptable. They are working with virtually no sense of urgency and are utterly disconnected from the lives they are ruining as they take the art...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I don't know about uppity and full of myself. You do not know me, however you are quite entitled to your opinion - which does not define me any more than my perceptions of you through your scant postings in an online forum define you. I have also written to HM The Queen - I have never known anyone ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Flatcap_Julius Some of you comments sound very uppity and quite full of yourself. The process is indeed frustrating but we are owed nothing we are just lucky. So many people born in Ireland & so many people with the same names or different spellings in different documents millions and millions o...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I have seen recently uploaded adverts from the Facebook & Twitter accounts from the Irish Citizeninfo pages advertising the FBR process & adverts from Irish solicitors xxxxxxxxxxxx advertising their expertise in Irish citizenship by decent. It seems strange that if the process has been pause...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

For those people who have received your Irish passport, did you have to send in your current [other nationality] passport as part of your supporting documentation for your Irish passport? The language on the application seems pretty clear that's required, but I'm reluctant to put my passport in the...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi everyone, I submitted my application and all my documents in March 2020, so I'm expecting to be in the queue for maybe another year, I'm applying through one of my grandparents being born in Ireland, however im estranged from my mother and my Irish grandmother for certain circumstances, so I was...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hello, I have a few questions about the foreign birth registration process and wonder if anyone can help. I originally paid for my application back in March 2020. However, due to lack of organisation and COVID, never sent off the documents. I have now spoken to my siblings and we are planning to do...

My brother is looking to apply for his FBR, but all our granpa's docs are with my application.
If I were you I wouldnt wait for them to be returned I would just order new replacement copies and send your brothers application ASAP

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hey, curious for some thoughts here. I got my paperwork in September of last year, got the email that it was received. I know I am way at the back of the line, but probably sometime in 2022 we’re going to want to start trying for a family. If we were to get pregnant, does Ireland accelerate applica...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Apparently there is a large anti-lockdown protest in Dublin right now. No masks & no social distancing.
Will this lead to easing of restrictions or another spike & longer lockdown restrictions

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I'm not sure I am posting this in the right place, so my apologies in advance. This is a relatively simple question but a big problem. I am in the process of starting the FBR process for my two sons. I have an Irish passport based on my birth mother whom I have never met. The FBR process seems to r...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi folks Regarding the witnesses to the photos to be submitted. If I have understood the guidance it has to be someone from the proscribed list and known to me sufficiently well enough to know a third person who also knows me? This seems bizarre. Do I now need to befriend a notary officer, introduc...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Just got my FBR through after 18 months, but it has got me thinking about my kids. . . . I had assumed as my farther was English and my mother was also born in England, but has recently gained Irish citizenship via her Irish parents, whom I also gained my FBR through, that they were not entitled to...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Frustrating to have another closure. I can't help feeling it's a little ironic that a lot of us are here because of the UK's decision and handling of Brexit, and now it's likely the UK's handling of their variant of Covid is going to keep us here even longer! Fingers crossed it's a short one. If th...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

The Irish government has agreed that from 24 December, Level 5 restrictions will apply nationally and Processing of Foreign Birth registrations is paused again. And people are requested not send supporting documentation as it cannot be processed at this time.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Please help! It's been 22 months into the process and now they're trying to return my documentation. So I am 99% of the way done, the only issue is, the FBR Office will NOT accept a LEGAL DNA Test as a link between my father and grandpa. They want my dads original birth certificate with my grandpas...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

It has been interesting reading through this topic. It took me at least 3 months to get both my Irish grandparents birth certificates from Ireland. But within 3 weeks got mine and my mothers English birth certificates and my parents and grandparents English marriage certificates and my grandparents ...
