Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

Hoping someone can help! My first time passport app was just received today. The passport tracker says I need to submit supporting documents. I closely followed the documentation guidelines so the application should be complete. I’m wondering if maybe Im getting that message because the package has...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Is my parent's marriage certificate a red herring for my FBR application? My father's father is the one born in Ireland , and my father's name is on my birth certificate, so the fact my parents were (or were not) married is irrelevant. I ask because I easily tracked down all relevant certificates e...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hello my names Kietan, I applied for the fbr in October 2021. I heard back from a lady about two months ago saying I need a different death certificate for my grandmother. We emailed back and forth and I got the death certificate and mailed it to her. She said she would let me know when she receive...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

Heyo Just recently got my FBR approved. I can just send in my actual British passport instead of a certified photocopy right? That should be enough for the ID requirement? Or do I need more? The actual passport is what they ask for, so if you are happy sending it, you can. You can start the online ...

I thought registered mail would require a signature upon delivery?
I don't think they do that anymore since Covid.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Do people receiving / sending documents from the UK using Royal Mail experience delays? My passport application to Dublin has been held by Royal mail for nearly 10 days with no progress and i am worried. Unfortunately I have always used Royal Mail but at the moment I would strongly reccomend avoidi...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I find this quite a strange remark to be making on an FBR forum designed to give people advice and useful information about the process. I noticed you made a similar comment a week or so ago when I said I was applying through my grandfather and it I found it a little bit offensive. Isn’t the whole ...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

Hey folks I am about to make my first application for an Irish passport. I have my FBR certificate and am based in England if that has any bearing on the answer. Am I ok to submit a certified copy of my passport? I don't fancy sending my actual passport in case the Royal Mail go rogue. Also does an...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I got the email this morning :D but I'm not clear on the wording. "your application for Irish citizenship through entry on the Foreign Births Register has been successful" Does this mean I am now an Irish citizen? Or is there another step? Also for the passport, is this basically automati...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi All, New to the forum as I have a question about the FBR. I'm applying for Irish Citizenship through my Irish Grandfather and was wondering: do I have to include his marriage certificate? The FBR Application Form states that it wants a marriage certificate if the person in question was married y...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

1 month now since my address confirmation email.
Have you received the "congratulations your certificate has been printed & posted" email yet? It looks like they have been steaming through the applications but have bottle necked at the final stage after approval.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

'estranged difficult parent group' Should I also get an affadavit ready? Yes. They will ask. Mine was worded similar to this because I had seen previous cases here where they ask for aunties/uncles photo ID instead: I am (name) of (address). I am the son of (parent). I have been irreconcilably estr...

I also didn't get a "thank you for confirming" email either

There really is no universal format anymore. I think they do this on purpose to throw us off

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Seems a very wise decision IMHO. I've got an FBR applied for and ready to post (from UK). I don't think I will until Feburary!! There are alternatives to Royal Mail. The Irish government probably has a contract/deal with them thats why they use them exclusively. Personally I would just use another ...
