Retain Rights.

Just confused on the following..
To retain rights you have to be married for 3 years and lived in the UK for at least 1 year? what does this mean? You can live in another country together as well and then divorce and still can retain the right or what? Please simplify.

I got a Residence Card in uk for 5 years.

We dont want to divorce. What about when i go to sweden can i get swedish nationality after how long ? is it three years ?
