Re: ILR based on 14 year stay

I made an application for ILR based on the 14 yr rule in December 2007. And i have received two letters from HO since then. The first one confirming the receipt of my application and the second one in Jan 2008, telling me that my application is valid. But since then i have not heard from them again...

Fcenit- Just wanted to ask you as you are saying you got a letter with ILR. Is this because you did not have a valid passport to submit? I thought ILRs and other visas are only stuck into passports. i.e no passport no status? Thanks "RESIDENCE PERMIT" would’ve been endorsed into my pass...

Hi all, The letter does not specify the grounds for the decision. It simply states that I have been granted ILR. It also includes the "RESIDENCE PERMIT" document. The letter outlines my entitlements and responsibilities and it does not go into any details in regards to basis, rules or law ...

Also did you submit proof for every single years or every single month of the 14 years that you were here in uk? Neither I nor my solicitor contacted t...

I forgot to mention that it’s not advisable to bother the HO about your application. You will only piss them off.

I was in the same position and I know how desperate and upsetting it is to be in the dark waiting for something to happen but trust me it’s not long now. Just be patient.

Congrats-I know you are walking taller and oh so relieved!! What about citizenship? Can you apply after one year? Nop, I am afraid it isn't as simple as that. I've now have to wait for 5 more years of legal residence and only after that I can get the citizenship :-( But hey, I am not complaining, a...

According to my solicitors... and he was obviously right you will need as much info to substantiate that you are worthy of being granted leave to remain. The HO will look at all aspects of you past 14 years: 1. Your family ties (Domestic Circumstances). British long term spouse is a massive plus. VE...

Hey OL7MAX. Congrats on the result. Much envied, but sincerely glad for you! I was just wandering – during your 11 month wait, did you get much correspondence from HO ? Did you contact them at all during the wait. What was the communication like between you/your solicitor and them ? Much appreciat...
