Re: Spouse of Irish national processing times?

Hi all, Just wondering has anyone recently applied as the spouse of an Irish national (with no current permission to remain) and if so, how long did it take? Also, for anyone who applied (at any time) when they had no permission to remain in Ireland, did the DOJ issue you with a stamp 3 or a stamp ...

i think lost soul should read the OP's post - both him and his father are legally present in the state. He is looking for advice and it's not really for you to judge. Re the question, my wife is in a similar situation and I don't think anything other than short-term visa is possible for your father....

Proud White European, I would respectfully disagree with your interpretation of what is irish. A person's race may be black or whatever, but he can still be Irish. I'm not saying that just because someone has a passport, or was born in ireland, that they're Irish. Often, immigrants may remain withi...

the proud white european should read his own definition of ethnicity "Also, pertaining to or having common facial, cultural, religious, OR linguistic characteristics" Ethnicity is complex and can't just be restricted simply to the colour of one's skin. Intersting point though raised by the...

Eventually, the DOJ has updated its information in relation to the process of applying for residence based on marriage to an Irish national.

Permission to Remain Based on Marriage to Irish National

Does anyone know the current processing times for applications to remain in ireland based on marriage to an Irish national? My wife sent in her application in March (and immediately sent in items subsequently requested). The letter we received back indicated a current processing time of 9 - 12 month...

Re: Mr. Malikos

dramatic words sovtek i think a balance needs to be struck. I think most Irish people want the Irish government to have some say on immigration and taxation policy (including me, a Europhile and Yes man) and, thus, people will become more EU sceptic on foot of this decision. I would certainly welcom...

Mr. Malikos

I don't understand what you are saying about my country: Are you sure you are a civilised country? An educated country? A christian country? Are you sure Ireland is a country at all? I don't think that's in order and I would ask you to retract these hateful rhetorical questions. Incorrect interpreta...

Re: Ahern and Hypocrisy

well said sir no non eu citizen has an automatic and or legitimate right to be in europe provided they go through the correct procedures. What nonsense. The chauvinistic and discriminatory procedures created by Ireland are in clear violation of EU law. So Ireland thinks that the EU is there just to ...

I don't think that answer gives a generally recognised definition of "national"... There is no such thing, for example, as "English nationality". there probably is no exact legal definition of nationality, maybe a lot of case law there to explain it. the point is somebody made a...

I think that the distinction you are drawing is really between Irish citizens (or nationals) and Irish residents , since some non-Irish citizens who are resident in Ireland can vote in various types of elections. no, im not there is no distinction between an Irish national (somebody born in Ireland...

Re: 'Naturalised Citizen was almost barred from Lisbon vote'

i completely agree that an Irish citizen and an Irish national have equal voting rights in a referendum - my point was just that there was no anti-foreigner feeling here. i'm using the term "Irish national" as distinguishing someone who was born in Ireland from someone who has acquired cit...

Re: 'Naturalised Citizen was almost barred from Lisbon vote'

the article suggests that this person was a naturalised citizen and not a national. Haing previously worked as a polling clerk, I can easily see such a mistake happening. In European elections (and Dail elections for UK citizens) some non-Irish citizens can vote. However, in referendums, only Irish ...

Re: 'Naturalised Citizen was almost barred from Lisbon vote'

that's hardly news and it's ridiculous to suggest that there was some policty to discourage non-nationals to vote. it was obviously just an admin glitch where the polling clerk thought that it was only Irish nationals (rather than Irish citizens who could vote on a referendum) - an easy mistake for ...
