Re: Foreign Birth Registration

20 months in from application and not heard a thing other than original confirmation. Seeing people gone past 2 years now is slightly depressing! Don't worry Sooze, if you got the original confirmation you should be nearing the final stages of the application cycle now. You'll hear something a lot ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I applied 2 years ago today and not heard a sausage since. The website has consistently said the waiting time is 12-18 months throughout that time :D The wait goes on. Yep - I'm on second anniversary now - I've not heard a dickie-bird - on the scale of not hearing anything I'm not sure which of us ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Let's hope we see an announcement on the DFA website in early September as has been rumoured will happen. I will be in Ireland then - so excited - never been there before. Congratulations to everyone who's getting some good news - you sure deserve it, waiting c. years.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi All A quick question for those who have had to get English marriage certificates. I can see that I can order them online via the General Register Office, and have got the necessary information to order them. However when ordering, the online form makes no mention of getting a certified copy. Is ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hello all, just submitted my application online today. Planning to send documents tomorrow.... maybe a silly question but can anyone recommend packaging / envelope that is sturdy enough as I am sending all original documents? Heya Tom, I used an A4 bubble envelope. I put all the documents inside a ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hello, can someone tell me ~ why the FBR pregnancy team doesn't reply to my email? Not sure, however if it has been 7 days since you emailed them and you have checked you junk / spam folder to ensure any reply has not gone in there I would advise getting in touch via the live chat facility. On the ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

It's probably worth noting that it is possible to get two different versions of Irish birth certificates - the standard one and the fully-authenticated one. They are essentially the same document however the fully-authenticated one comes stamped and embossed with an official seal plus a letter of a...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

That is a fair point. I cannot see anything on the DFA site specifically stating any requirement for the additional authentication for Irish birth certificates for FBR applications. With this in mind, I would take the standard Irish certificate to be quite adequate. I grew up in a culture where auth...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

From what I have read on here and also from the email I had from the DFA yesterday it would appear that FBR processing will be back in operation within the coming weeks and the pace will be ramped up further towards the end of the year. I look forward to visiting Dublin and Nenagh at the end of the ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Good news to share with all! Re: Foreign Birth Registration

What is the best indicator that the application is on the way? Is it the congratulations email or is it the address confirmation one? Does the congratulations one tell you how to apply for a passport? Do first passport applications have to be done via a paper form or can it be submitted online?

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

With all due respect, what the British government has negotiated (and agreed!) is not a concern of the Irish Government - Their concern is the safety of their employees, and, speaking with a family member who works at DFA, they only ever expedite claims in pregnancy, so the child will still have th...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Whilst we can't be certain, honestly it seems to me as though the 'please do not send supporting documentation' message is still there to simply deter applications whilst there's still such a massive backlog. Applications HAVE been progressing the last few months. Clearly the office isn't open full...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

That's useful to know, thanks. The website continues to say processing is paused due to Covid, is there any reason to believe anyone is working on these applications at all? I thought the same. It seems people are getting their certs through - either those who applied 18-24 months ago or those with...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thanks Angelo. Looking at those numbers processed per year it's clear to see where the 18-24 month time frame comes from. I suppose that most people applying for FBR will also eventually be applying for a passport and so processing more FBR claims will invariably lead to more passport applications, ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

No new update on my situation, but since it's been 9 days since receiving (and replying to) the address confirmation email, I'm pretty curious what's going to happen next. Again, heard from Team 1: Application submitted online: 7th October 2019 Email acknowledging receipt of documentation Balbrigga...
