Re: Foreign Birth Registration

So glad I’ve found this forum as I too am waiting to submit an application for my FBR citizenship, reading these stories makes me realise others are in the same boat. It’s been a very frustrating wait for the last 7 months since the FBR office shut, I have now gathered all the required documentatio...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi all. I've been reading some posts and I'm wondering whether my documents have been received since I mailed them December 2019. January 7, 2020 I got this email: "Your application for Irish citizenship through entry on the Foreign Births Register has now been received." Some people are ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

They really need to get back to work. Organisations throughout the world have found ways of getting themselves back to work & being productive. I’m far from the front of the Q in my application but I’m sick of the Covid excuses, enough is enough. It’s not as if we’ve all just paid a tenner for ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I just wish I knew a timescale, that's all. I am so sick of all this, I think I am starting to crack up and I just want to hold it together. :( I’ll tell you about my circumstances. We’re lucky enough to have a holiday home in France, as well as a UK home. In early March 2020 we came on holiday to ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Has anyone heard ANYTHING about when the FBR offices are to open? Anything at all? Ideally with some sources posted. THANKS Up until recently it was stated on the DFA website that processing would resume when Ireland is at Level 3, however I believe this may have been taken down - at least I can't ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I do not like the indifferent way these applications are handled. The tedious delays are compounded by an almost total absence of communication that is unacceptable. They are working with virtually no sense of urgency and are utterly disconnected from the lives they are ruining as they take the art...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

The global pandemic has seen millions around the globe put their lives on hold. The folly of Brexit has compounded t...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I don't know about uppity and full of myself. You do not know me, however you are quite entitled to your opinion - which does not define me any more than my perceptions of you through your scant postings in an online forum define you. I have also written to HM The Queen - I have never known anyone ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Julius, the act states that you must have a parent or grandparent born on the island of Ireland to be added to the FBR. If someone is waiting for their application to be processed because their grandparent was born on the island and then gets pregnant- that child would not be eligible unless the pr...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Yes I have complained about the delays, and yes I have tried to do something about it. The attitude of the Irish Government over FBA has been contemptuous beyond belief. They are now apparently only giving consideration to those having had sexual intercourse. This is both unfair and strange - for a...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

It's ridiculous to say that the delay is down to 'laziness'. It's not like they've just been having a nap all this time. There's been a pandemic on, and FBR has not been the priority. That political issues in countries outside of Ireland have resulted in a huge upsurge of demand for this service do...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

   I'm a bit confused. Are you saying you sent off your FBR application 16 days ago and you're hoping to take up a job offer you've already been given? Even if you were a pregnant woman, and even if Covid/Brexit had never happened, you'd still never have been able to make that one wo...
