Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Lucky enough to have been added to the FBR in January after waiting over 27 months and immediately applied for my passport. Sorry to break it to you but it's been more than a further 4 month wait for that as a first time applicant. Good luck to everyone still waiting. Have you received your passpor...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thanks. I'm not fully across the line yet, but I was unable to locate a wedding certificate and included a covering letter to that effect, as they advised. I have not been contacted yet with any queries on this, which may still happen of course, but fingers crossed!

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

That is such a long time to wait. I hope you hear something soon. It's clear the outstanding applications are NOT being dealt with in anything like date order. Like me, you were already waiting over two years before they changed the website expected processing time advice from 12-18 months. I'm gett...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi all, an update on my application which was received 10 October 2019. I just received a confirmation of details email from the FBR department. I am applying through descent to my grandfather who was born in Ireland, however I unfortunately do not have his marriage certificate to my grandmother. I...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I applied 2 years ago today and not heard a sausage since. The website has consistently said the waiting time is 12-18 months throughout that time :D The wait goes on. Yep - I'm on second anniversary now - I've not heard a dickie-bird - on the scale of not hearing anything I'm not sure which of us ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

That's a good idea Corky! :D All we can do is stay positive and keep our sense of humour. Hopefully we'll both hear something in the coming weeks. Best of British, and Irish, luck to you.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I was unable to locate my Irish grandmother's marriage certificate when collating my documentation. I was advised by someone at DFA that this shouldn't be a problem when applying for an FBR entry and that I should just explain this on a covering letter, which I did when I submitted my application in...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thanks dolewhip. Yes it does seem to be somewhat of a lottery despite the 'strict date order' website statement. I don't think I'll be getting pregnant anytime soon, being a 51 year old man and all. I hope you hear something soon and that the infamous 'Team 1' don't deal with my application. :D

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi all, bit of a newbie here so please be gentle! Just wondered if anyone else out there is in my cohort by way of some reassurance - Submitted my application on-line: August 2019. Confirmation email of receipt of my documentation: 7 Oct 2019. A lot of people seem to have been contacted in December ...
