8 months though is less than 270 days (which is allowed in total), so assuming you don't have any other absences you might be ok to apply straight after you get ILR.

Re: certified copies of passports?

No idea. Though why is he getting certified copies in the first place? Either you send your original passports or you use NCS who will make the copies. You can also send a certified (by a soliciter) copy of the passport. They did not advertise that loudly in the past, but it is definitely fine with...

Re: certified copies of passports?

I was recently told by somebody who was going to apply for his British Citizenship that soliciters he contacted refused to make certified copies of his passport to send with the application because of, apparently, high instance of fraud. Anyone else heard of this? What kind of fraud are they concer...

Many thanks to you all for your replies. If I got a schengen visa issued from France and went there for a day trip, could I then use the schengen visa (if valid for multi entry and for example 6 months validity) to go for a weeks holiday in say Greece or Spain, at another time, not related to the f...

From my experience and that of others, first time schengen visas for non-EEA spouses of EU nationals are normally multi entry for 6 months minimum. I had a gap of over 10 years outside of the schengen zone and the french (my 1st application to them) issued me a 6-month schengen visa last Oct. Best ...

thank you djb123. appreciate your response. Regarding 2, since the ILR rules are being replaced in 2011, would this mean if i start my Tier 1 ( entry to UK) in say June 2010 - i would be able to apply under the current ILR rules in 5 years? Just would like to know if the HO comes up with rules that...

Re: Visit/settlement by parents

Hello Gurus, I am a prospective Tier 1 applicant and would like some advice on experience of visit by parents. 1. When working on Tier 1 is it easy for your parents to visit or stay with you? How long can they stay? 2. When can you apply for ILR for your parents? Is it after you get your own ILR or...

1) Sounds about right to me. Though your are talking 6-11 years into the future so who knows if the rules are tweaked again. 2) It's only a few minor changes to the rules in Jan 2010. The major new rules (ILR being replaced with probationary citizenship) doesn't come into force until July 2011. It w...

1) How easy depends on your parents circumstances - have they got reasons to return back to their home? The most they will be able to stay is for 6 months in a 12 month period. 2) Unless you have ILR you can't look at getting your parents settlement visas in the UK. Their chances of success depends ...

You want to check with indian law on citizenship to see whether you already lost it. Normally when a country does not allow dual citizenship one would lose their citizenship the moment another one acquired. If that's the case then technically you will be travelling on invalid passport because natio...

Your ILR may no longer be valid but does anyone other than UK immigration actually know? I question whether UK immigration always know either (my wife entered the UK after she got British citizenship using the ILR visa in her non-UK passport). And the BIA suggests you could use the ILR stamp in your...
