Changes to permit free employment?

I've heard that there are plans to change the category of 'permit free employment', with some intention to absorb this category into tier 1.

Does anyone know whether this is the case, and how soon this change is likely to be enacted?

Thanks so much for your help. I really appreciate it. One other route that we've considered is going down the 'permit free employment' route, since he is a writer. Unfortunately, he's not made much money in the last two years, so I'm worried that we might not be able to demonstrate that he has indep...

Thanks for that, Victoria.

Because our divorce is very simple and very amicable, we're not using a solicitor. Would waiting for the decree nisi and presenting that be sufficient?

We've sent everything we had except maybe the council tax bill, we shred our documents and obviously don't have some, but from what we sent there was a lot for the last 2 years. We have a big age difference between me and my husband, but it's a private issued and shouldn't concern other people. Now...

I'm a university lecturer. Before you panic about this, I'd ask them what documents they offer in this regard. For a student on one of my courses, I'd probably simply offer an enrolment record - we don't necessarily keep records of day to day attendance (in fact rarely do, except for seminars). So i...

Spouse / fiancee visa

I'm a UK national. My now estranged husband, a South African, entered the UK on a spouse visa in 2000. He was granted ILR and has been living here and working in the NHS ever since. He hasn't yet applied for naturalisation. Our marriage has recently broken down (we more or less separated 12 months a...

By final stages do you mean after the decree nisi or the decree absolut?

Will the consulate have a record of my previous application for a spouse visa for my estranged husband? Will that effect our chances at all?

I know we can't marry till the divorce is through - I've just started divorce proceedings.

Unfortunately he's too old for the Working holiday maker visa. (I think? He's 41)

Complicated: What are our (best) options?

This is a bit complicated, and I'm struggling to work out the best way to go. I'm not sure if I've posted in the right forum, so please bear with me if I haven't. I'm a UK national. My boyfriend is a South African national. I'm still legally married to my estranged husband (also a South African nati...
