Passport Stamps to Prove Residency

Hi all, My wife is applying for citizenship and naturally her passport will be used to prove her residency length. However, some stamps are missing as USA (for example) do not stamp. Also, there is actually a stamping error. We flew to Rome in 2019 and we went March 15th to March 19th but they stamp...

Cover Letter for Citizenship Application

Hi all, We're ready to hit the payment button for citizenship application. However, we need to add a cover letter explaining a slight difference in her BRP and passport. There hasn't been any area where we can add this explanation. There was a small section for any other details for the application ...

Re: Entering UK as brirish citizen without passport

You're BRP is now invalid. You are now living in the UK as a citizen. Therefore, you're pointlessly holding your BRP and significantly risking a fine.

Re: Travelling after naturalization without British Passport

Thanks all.

Yes it'll be with an American passport so a non-visa passport.

I wasn't sure how strict they were about it as application and possible passport wait could be an issue but obviously will be travelling without BRP.

Travelling after naturalization without British Passport

Hi all,

Is it possible to travel after your ceremony without a British passport? I know strictly speaking you have to travel with a British passport but I'm wondering if it's possible with a naturalisation certificate as a one-off?

When to Apply for Citizenship (Vacation)

Hi all, My wife carries ILR and is eligible for citizenship. We had her passport changed to suit her real middle name as all through her FLR(M)'s her passport had her just her middle name initial. As she is applying for citizenship we wanted her full middle name so we changed her passport. According...

Re: First british passport application - submission of existing passport

Well, if you need a passport then you cannot apply for your British passport as realistically they quote 6-8 weeks.

Can you delay your ceremony within the required 3 months? Then you won't need to apply for a British passport and you'll still have your BRP.

Re: Applied early ?

As Bash said. Everything is three years for a spouse route.

For instance, you would have had to have been present in the country three years prior to application rather than the 'usual' five.

Re: Middle Initial on US Passport & BRP

Okay now a potential issue. We were planning to go over to the states in October for a wedding. Seeing as it’s a year away it was less of a risk and the hope citizenship and passport would all be sorted. However, she has changed the potential date to May (a day after the passport change at the embas...

Re: Middle Initial on US Passport & BRP

So... I spoke to UKVI and the contact said to just put a cover letter in explaining why the middle name is different. She said it's important for the passport to be in the correct name (for what i submit) than the BRP. She said a cover letter will explain and 'you'll be fine'. She obviously said she...

Why isn't the child applying for citizenship at the same time as you?

Was your child born in the UK?

Re: Middle Initial on US Passport & BRP

One option could be to go with the current Passport/ BRP name and if you are still interested, change the name on UK Passport. Seems like a simpler process than this multi step hassle. Doesn't the UK passport have to reflect the name on other passports? So would that mean: 1) Apply for and receive ...

If it was me, I'd wait a day or two anyway. Just to be super safe.

Obviously ensure you were in the country 5 years prior.

Re: When can I apply for Citizenship?

oh so its 1:00 AM GMT? Yes i was present in the UK on 21 Oct 2016. We're currently in British Summer Time (BST). If their system works in GMT (an hour less) and you apply at 12:01 20th October you could be applying at 23:01 19th October to their system. So Simon is right in erring on the side of ca...

Re: Middle Initial on US Passport & BRP

So, she's applying for a new passport next week to change the initial to the full middle name. My question is: do we need to change the BRP? What evidence and purpose is required regarding changing an initial to a full middle name. Do you have an estimate on how long this would take or a number to i...

Impossible to get US Embassy Appointment (London)

Hi, Can anybody provide any advice on how you get an appointment at the embassy. It's impossible. Once the appointments are made available they are immediately fully booked. It seems there is a secret group that seem to get info of appointments before the general public! My wife needs a passport app...

Re: Middle Initial on US Passport & BRP

Thank you again strong and stable. Would UKVI not raises issues with this middle name change? Would they not think why previous applications and things such as her Life in the UK and BRP all have a 'different' name (although it's an initial)? Also, is it possible to apply for a new US passport from ...

Re: Middle Initial on US Passport & BRP

Thank you strong and stable. Would the BRP also have to be changed before the application? Can you foresee any issues after naturalisation where we'll come stuck with her 'official' middle name becomes her initial, e.g. electoral roll, mortgage applications etc? I personally would like to do things ...
