Thanks! Took like 2 years from start to finish, hopefully others' experience will be less than that.
And you’ve taken likely thousands of days off other people’s wait time with your advice and help to avoid mistakes.
I would like to second Vadrar! Congrats and thanks for the advice!

Re: Citizenship Application: NI resident, what happens after DAT1 / PSNI clearance?

Hi Razzle, 1) That seems to be the standard wording of the DAT1. As it is basically a simple criminal record check it would not be valid for example for working with children/vulnerable members of society. I think that is what the letter means as that sort of employment would require an AccessNI che...

Re: Citizenship Application: NI resident, what happens after DAT1 / PSNI clearance?

We did hear back from them...I got excited when I saw the letter but it was just them asking me for my divorce certificate from my previous marriage. Could have asked for that when they sent the letter about the Dat1 a few weeks earlier but I am no longer surprised by the randomness of this whole pr...

Re: Citizenship Application: NI resident, what happens after DAT1 / PSNI clearance?

Hi honda,

We had exactly the same sequence of events for my wife's application. We got a new Dat1 letter from PSNI again no problem. Emailed them with new Dat1 request form on a Thursday and had it in post by weds the next week.

Re: Citizenship Application: NI resident, what happens after DAT1 / PSNI clearance?

So....after sending INIS an email querying eVetting invitation for NI resident in JUNE, and being told to send DAT1 in (which we did)...they have now sent us another letter (September) telling us that eVetting does not apply to NI residents and to request a DAT1 to send to them. That is a lost 3 mon...

Re: Irish visit visa from Northern Ireland

Hi Billi, We live in Belfast (i am UK/irish citizen) and my wife is non-EU/UK..we have the same debate about this every time we see cheap flights from Dublin. And we have always ended up just booking a connecting flight via London/Manchester/Bristol etc. As per our understanding of the rules you wou...

Re: E-Vetting Invitation & E-Vetting Process

How is the €950 fee payable? Bankers draft like the €175 application fee? Nope, just an online payment from your card. Excellent - thanks for the confirmation meself2. I suspected that was the case but not explicitly stated anywhere i could find...as my wife and I live in NI it was a hassle to pay ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi, Commenting on how to get a UK birth certificate: Birth Certificates are public documents so anyone can order any birth certificate technically, although you will be asked why you want it. (I ordered my own father's birth certificate online from Plymouth Council recently.) If you know your father...

Re: Naturalisation via Spouse, NI residency proofs

Hi,

Yes sent each monthly statement, although they were mainly one pagers and some two pagers to cover the whole month.

With all the papers at the end we actually sent it in a (heavy) large ring binder.

Re: Naturalisation via Spouse, NI residency proofs

Land and property services bill is what would be called 'rates'/ council tax/ property tax. In Northern Ireland rates are charged on the owner of the property not the resident. So on a strict reading of residence proof I would say it doesn't count . Whether that distinction is understood by INIS is ...

Re: Bankers Draft Northern Ireland

Hi, if this is for a naturalisation application fee (€175)? I sent them a postal order from An Post with a note that could not get a bankers draft as lived in NI etc. They accepted it but be careful as postal orders expire after 6 months so have your application ready and send as soon as you get the...

Re: Citizenship Application: NI resident, what happens after DAT1 / PSNI clearance?

So sent off the PSNI DAT1 response to INIS and the day after they received it had movement on the eVetting invitation (now with Garda). I was under the impression eVetting was not applicable to NI residents, however just completed it anyway with Belfast address, but at least things are moving.

Re: Citizenship Application: NI resident, what happens after DAT1 / PSNI clearance?

Did as you suggested meself2...and thanks as got a really quick reply from them!: "Dear Sir/Madam, PLEASE NOTE E-VETTING IS NOT APPLICABLE IF YOU ARE RESIDENT IN NORTHERN IRELAND. REQUEST A PSNI DAT 1 AND SUBMIT TO OUR OFFICE Regards Citizenship Helpdesk Team 4" The eVetting invitation whi...

Re: Citizenship Application: NI resident, what happens after DAT1 / PSNI clearance?

My wife applied last year (we live in NI), application recognised in Sep. Got e-vetting invitation about a month which we filled in and had no movement on since. When we originally applied there was nothing on the form about sending in a DAT1 form from PSNI (and haven't had any correspondence receiv...

Re: Irish Citizenship Application - Tax Clearance (HMRC/UK)

hI littler, From what i can see the submission of a tax clearance certificate upfront with an Irish citizenship application is a new requirement since November 2020. HMRC are blaming COVID from phone calls I had with them, but it certainly doesn't help that there isn't a specific form/named contact ...

Re: Irish Citizenship Application - Tax Clearance (HMRC/UK)

Hi Aotearoa, I called HMRC end of Aug/start of Sep, they said they would send us it by the end of September. I asked them to send me a letter to that effect (knowing full well that they wouldn't send the actual tax confirmation by then - still waiting). We did send in my wife's application in Sep (n...

Irish Citizenship Application - Tax Clearance (HMRC/UK)

Has anyone in a similar position successfully obtained a letter from HMRC for the purposes of meeting the Tax C...
