Re: Citizenship Application: NI resident, what happens after DAT1 / PSNI clearance?

Hi razzle_dazzle, I read somewhere that if you are not living in the state (ROI), that you have to renew your intention to keep your Irish citizenship EVERY YEAR? - a process that entails having to go to an Irish Embassy to get it done. Do you know if that applies if you live in Northern Ireland? I ...

Re: Upcoming Ceremony in 2023/4

Is the email in your junk/spam folder? It might be blocked by your email provider as a junk link. Try moving the email out of junk/spam folder if that is where it is to the normal Inbox. Or maybe there is an 'unblock content' button at the top of the email. Another way would be to forward it to your...

Re: Married in ireland divorce in the UK!

I was previously married in the UK and then divorced in the UK, in my case the divorce also required a separation period of 2 years. It sounds like Ireland and UK are aligned on this. I can't comment on jurisdiction however...if you are a UK resident I am not sure how if getting divorced in another ...

Re: Upcoming Ceremony in 2023/4

Hi guys, can I ask about this requirement to present residence permit at the ceremony? Is it stated in the invitation itself? Online information about the ceremony simply states that passport (or alternative form of ID is required). Thanks

Re: Citizenship Application: NI resident, what happens after DAT1 / PSNI clearance?

Hi Liberto, I can't remember exactly what we entered but I would have put something that fitted the character rules that was obviously 'wrong' e.g. Z's/9's for IRP number, can't remember if it was just numbers or letters as well. 01/01/2999 etc for date. When it asked for a scan of the IRP we upload...

Re: Approval letter

My theory is that they work in phases...get a certain number of applications processed up to being approved, move on to the next thing. They then get formally approved at some point...letters prepared in batches and sent out in the period before next ceremony. As far as i can see (from this forum) c...

Re: Citizenship Application: NI resident, what happens after DAT1 / PSNI clearance?

For a spouse of an NI-born (& NI resident) Irish citizenship is possible after 3 years versus UK with 5 years. So in theory 2 years quicker. In practice however this is not the case due to Irish citizenship process taking so long.

I don't know the answer to this specifically, but I would imagine it would tell you the address where to send documents when you complete the online application.

Re: Citizenship Application: NI resident, what happens after DAT1 / PSNI clearance?

Hi Irina, My wife and I live in NI and she applied for naturalisation in Feb 2022. (They didn't start the file until Aug 2022). I posted above about the whole evetting and DAT1 process and requests above in this topic. If they do the same for you I expect they will ask you for another DAT1 at some p...

Re: Upcoming Ceremony in 2023/4

It doesn't make any sense...I can see people in the 2022 applications timeline who both applied and paid/processed the €950 fee after us. The only logical reason I can think of to not be in this ceremony if is they are doing it by initial application date. But that is not what they are doing. I comp...

Re: Upcoming Ceremony in 2023/4

There could well be a build up of people who didn't get that Dec approval letter in time. We got my wife's approval letter through the door two days after the cut-off for the December ceremonies.

Re: Upcoming Ceremony in 2023/4

That's great news for everyone waiting. This caught my eye on that linked page: "At the ceremony candidates will take an oath of fidelity to the nation, receive their certificate of naturalisation and thereby become Irish citizens." Is this new wording on these next ceremony announcements?...

Re: Citizenship Application: NI resident, what happens after DAT1 / PSNI clearance?

On a side note...my wife's passport is now a few weeks out of date. The acceptance letter asks for a scan of 'current' passport. To me the passport is still valid as an Identification document (but not as a travel document). Anyone have any experience of this if it is deemed acceptable for this or n...

Re: Citizenship Application: NI resident, what happens after DAT1 / PSNI clearance?

Finally received the approval letter today. Was posted 8th Dec, arrived Belfast 14th Dec...with a cut-off of payment 12th Dec for the next ceremonies....They had all the extra forms they wanted since mid October.

Absolute torturous process. At least we know this is nearing the end now.
