I received my phone call to say that they were approving my application on the 4th of April and to check that I still lived at the same address. The lady on the phone said that I should receive an email confirming when the certificate in the post. How long after the phone call does it usually take ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

No new posts in 3 days? That must be a record, or there's a problem with my account... I suspect that December 2019/January 2020 was the absolute peak for applications once the Brexit 'deal' was reached, and that's why it's feeling slow for those of us who were Feb 2020 applicants. In line with thi...

Think we're all just waiting. Seems like they're on Jan 2020 at the moment. I'm Feb 2020, expecting to hear something next month or may perhaps.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Some interesting news recently. My documents for FBR were received in June 2019. I was getting increasingly concerned at not hearing anything so a couple months ago I called the FBR number and explained my concern. I was told to relax. Everything is fine and I should hear shortly. As I learned abou...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Out of curiosity, for first time Irish passport applications, will a certified copy of a UK passport suffice? Alongside the FBR certificate of course. The reason I ask is that the information regarding the documents that need to be supplied for a first time passport, on the citizensinformation.ie w...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Phew! Glad to know I'm not the only Jan 2020 applicant still waiting. Still hopeful to hear something by Paddy's day :o Side note- if anyone finds themselves in Dublin, the EPIC museum (Irish Emigration Museum) is amazing!! All about Irish Emigration and history, and famous Irish men/women that inf...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi, I'm pretty sure only maiden names are put onto the certificates. Mine has my mum's maiden name although I sent in details of her married name. You should be fine with the passport. If you want it in your married name, send in your marriage certificate and they should do it with that name. Hi ev...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hello, I'm a Jan 2020 applicant, docs received Jan 27th and still not heard a peep. Wondering if anyone else is from Jan 2020 and still waiting? As I've seen some Feb applicants getting theirs now! :? I literally check my inbox everyday! According to someone's post after speaking with FBR team, the...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I believe online appications for passport renewals has been the standard for years, and during COVID they moved all new passport applicaitions online as well. I got something from my embassy in late 2020, or 2021 about that, IIRC. Ok, interesting. I'm guessing they did that when basically all the e...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

This may be a dumb question, but I was wondering about it as I watch the approvals and people applying for their passports after FBR. Aren't passport applications able to be processed at embassies? I know in New York previously the embassy used to provide FBR and passport services. There is an Iris...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

On the passport application it states to send your current passport if you have one from another country. Does anyone know if that is required? With a 40 workday turn around time for first time applicants, I can't be without my US passport that long. Fairly sure I've seen people say you can send a ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I heard from FBR today they are working on January 2020 currently. I have spotted one Feb 2020 in the Google doc has been processed though. Seems current processing time is around 2years+2months. That is great news. It definitely seems like the processing time has quickened in past few months. For ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Wait wait wait. Maybe I’m misunderstanding. OP, you state that you submitted your application in 2020, but then took TWO YEARS to submit your evidence. Did you mean the second date to also be 2020? I’m certain your second date refers to the email confirming they have your evidence. If I’m right tha...
