Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi all! So excited to see our applications finally coming up - I got the confirmation my documents had been received 20th January 2020 and I see examples of people with later dates getting confirmation of address emails. Can somebody who has received the confirmation of address email please let us ...

When confirming an address, do they call the US?
I was wondering the same thing but it seems highly unlikely given the time differences. For example, I live in California which is 8 hours behind Dublin.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Submitted my application on 17th Feb 2020, sent off documents shortly after but never received the confirmation of received documents. Is this cause for worry? I sent the docs on 21.2.20 and got the docs received email on 25.11.20 - I would certainly ask the question now that we are able to. I'm su...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Re change of address docs… “If you have moved address since you completed your application, you should provide a scanned copy of proof of that new address e.g. original utility bills, bank statements, government correspondence within 5 working days.“ so just one item as proof of new address? Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Where does the "Address check" part of the process come in? Somehow (I don't know how) I got the impression it meant they were starting on your application, but from studying the data in the spreadsheet, the time between the address check and the congrats email is pretty short. Is the add...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Curious, I live in California so I'm 8 hours behind Dublin time. Has anyone seen the Live Chat on the DFA page back online at all? I'm in NC and check occasionally during their work hours but it never seems to be working That's kind of what I thought. I suppose if they had people manning the chat t...

"However we then discovered the recent EU decision that the days spent in the EU with their spouse who is an EU citizen don’t count towards the 90/180 days, only days spent in the EU on their own. So that meant my application on its own would be enough." Ooh, this is interesting... Do you...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Today marks 500 days since the FBR received my application in their offices. Hang in there friend. It's a long process. I'd suggest putting it out of your mind until the end of the year. Good news is things seem to be moving now after so long stalled. Little over 2 years seems to be standard at the...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I've been lurking here for a while and finally got some news: Application received: Dec 29 2019 Request for docs: Feb 17 2022 They requested that I send in my mom's FBR, which seems strange because I'm applying through my grandmother (her mother) and I sent in all the appropriate documentation for ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Just received an email from someone on Team 8 to say my application will be approved soon. I’ve moved home so I need to send new proof of address.it’s been a long time but tbh I was prepared for another few months of waiting, so this is a lovely surprise 😊. I’ll try to update the doc but having tro...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

There are forums out there dated from the early 2000's showing regular people had sent FBR applications, been approved then applied and received a passport all in a three month period. Simpler times  My brother did the FBR route in 1999 --took a month. Back then was a different world than fro...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

It may come as a surprise... My Department is responsible for citizenship by descent through the Foreign ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Exciting to see the update from noncomjd - wife in the google doc. From what I can see the first of the 2019 February submissions that have been fully completed. Would suggest processing times of around 24 months. Did you mean February 2020 submissions? I'm Feb 2020 and coming up on 24 months short...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Just doing my usual couple of months check in. I'm up to 25 months now and not a peep. Reading that people are at 30 months is just mad. My 15 year old son (on application) will be 18 in seven weeks. God only knows what spanner that is going to be in the application! Yea, I'm at 24 months and...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I’m an August 2019 applicant and today received my confirmation of address email, 29 months later. Good luck all. Congrats! I'm at 24 months at the moment. Curios was yours a straight forward case? These ones taking close to 30 months are making me nervous that I won't have this done before summer.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Does it seem like the process is slowing down again? Back in November 2021 it looked like they started to finish the November 2019 submissions, so about 2 years turn-around. But since then I don't even think that they've really moved on to 2020 submissions. I'm February 2020, so I'm hoping they kee...
