Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Irish citizenship: Covid backlog leads to 'heartbreaking' delays https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-59308462 What a strange article, if you're married to an EU citizen in most countries (including France I believe) you have the right to reside in the country where your EU citizen spouse is living. You j...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi I applied in August 2019, received the "documents received" email email on 27th August 2019 and had heard nothing until last Friday when I had a phone call from Dublin to say that my application (along with my brother's) had been approved. The lady said that I will receive an email con...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Ah, I was wondering about this. Was it two separate things, confirmation of address and then requesting an address to post the documents and certs too? I was hoping to request that the certificate and documents be sent to my mother's address but was unsure I could as I do not live there myself and ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi everyone! I am a proper lurker on this forum - I have never posted before but I have been checking up here since about July 2021 when I stumbled up on it in yet another frantic google search to see if I could find out anything about FBR processing times! Today I received a phone call form the DF...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I got tired/bored of waiting, so dropped off the application for my son with the USPS today. They said it would take 5-6 business days to get from the United States to Ireland. Application submitted: April 13th, 2021 I am hoping that this entire process (including Irish passport) is completed befor...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hey all,

I'm curious, has anyone had experience with having a new address when address confirmation email comes?

My address has changed since I applied and am just curious on what type of delay it causes to update the address.

Thanks.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Following a surge of Covid cases in Ireland the government are asking people to work from home. No confirmation on impact to services like FBR, but it's been clearly communicated in the past that FBR processing cannot be done remotely, so there's a strong chance this could impact the reopening. htt...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Has anyone spoken to a human at the Irish FBR since they "re-opened", which was apparently yesterday? If I am reading the below webpage correctly, you can actually call them now. Not sure if there is a webchat option, which might be easier to reach? I spoke with them by phone 25 months ag...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

This might mean something to some of you. Just seen this posted on Twitter and it's straight from the mouth of Simon Coveney, the Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs whose department is responsible for the FBR. https://www.oireachtas.ie/en/debates/question/2021-11-11/296/?highlight%5B0%5D=foreign&am...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

That's strange, they may have changed that since I used it. I submitted a request on my FBR application this way in April and absolutely got a response. I don't remember that disclaimer being there at the time, but who knows. Maybe a bunch of other people did it that way too, and they put up the di...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Yes, I used the contact us form in April and was emailed back by a DFA employee within a few days. The person did not tell me much, but asked for my application ID, which I provided, and then they confirm that application was there and pending review. It didn't do any good for getting an ETA or anyt...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Boy oh boy, like so many here I am relieved to have found this board, as there has been so little communication on when the FBR will begin processing. Seeing people receiving their cert, etc is great and It appears from the posts that someone is now processing applications from Q3 2019, which is at l...
