Re: Can my brother come though me(Irish Citizenship) to Ireland for work/stay?

Even now that you are an Irish citizen, your brother would still be classed as a non-EU and non-EEA adult individual, and does not have an automatic right to join you. I think that if your brother is classed as an adult dependent, then he may be able to apply as a permitted family member of an EEA n...

Re: Citizenship 2021

Personally, I get the fact that there are facts in the timeline regarding the return of passports and the sending of acknowledgement letters and receipts. I also sent in my application early November, and I only have my passport back without the letter or a receipt. However, I think that questioning...

Re: Scorecard - Residency Proofs

A statement is a statement. A statement officially expresses information - which would reasonably mean that whether it is expressing a €0 payment per year, or €30,000 payment per year, it should stand for what it is. At the end of the day, INIS will ask for a statement of welfare payments in order t...

Re: Why the wait before clarification attempt?

I think minimum waiting time is a year for applications to get processed and from what I understand, updates you get from ISD is vague, like "your application is in progress", "it is in late stage" etc. So emailing ISD doesn't really give you any updates. If I am not mistaken yo...

Re: Refused EU treaty rights of a qualifying member

Doesn't the Chenchooliah case have to do with spouses, or is there a different application of it regarding children, dependent children and so on?

Re: Action after citizenship granted

Are you trying to rub it in lol?   spare a thought for us who are still waiting

Back to seriousness now, I wouldn't assume that that would be necessary. For example you won't reapply for EU3 treaty rights anyway as you now have the citizenship.

[Opinion] Lack of response from applicant shared in Oireachtas

I saw the following response from the Department of Justice to a question in Oireachtas (question No 131 on 26/01/2022): "Officials from the Citizenship Division of my Department contacted the person referred to by the Deputy in January 2021, seeking further documents. To date, there has been n...

Re: Passport Renewal during pending citizenship application

I had recently applied for citizenship and my passport will expire before they review my application based on processing times. So, I had emailed citizenship desk with below questions - In case of delays in processing, is it acceptable to renew the passport before expiry date? Will I have to submit...

Re: Stamp from solicitor - is it essential?

Stamp of what? It's not meant to be appostilled or such. Should all solicitors have a rubber stamp with their details on it? I would assume that a wet signature, name, contact number, address of registered office would be enough. I mean if anyone wants to check (and you should check the solicitor be...

Re: No Second Letter Anymore? Citizenship app.

Well the website can be updated for anything and everything. It may be a case that they were updating something else, and forgotten to update this. I mean, one can see it either way, and assume either way too. In any case, if it were me, and I had a formal letter from INIS stating that 12 months is ...

I would get the web site as base, as the web site is updated lastly on 6th of January 2022. And I assume the acknowledgement letter template is updated ages ago! So, 23 it is, even though 12 months in the letter :((((
Why do you assume that the acknowledgement letter template is old?

Re: Spouse refused to sign Section 15A form of citizenship application form.

Your frustration is evident, but I think this is not the right place to really get information and support on this, as it sounds like a domestic situation really. If you're saying the truth, and your partner is refusing to sign as retaliation for a 'little argument', it sounds worrying. If it is tru...

Re: No Second Letter Anymore? Citizenship app.

I believe that’s too early in current circumstances. I'm gonna complete 1 year waiting in a couple of weeks and I haven't heard anything back from them apart getting my passport and my first letter back. I'm actually thinking of doing a FOI just to see what they achieved in 1 year. I would be doing...

Re: No Second Letter Anymore? Citizenship app.

And an FOI is free of charge, unless there is a significant, copious amount of paperwork involved, like photocopies and so on. We're talking an amount that essentially the office will be billing you the actual paper for.

If you are applying through a solicitor, then it may cost.

Re: No Second Letter Anymore? Citizenship app.

1 year is too early to request FOI in my opinion, current processing time is 23 months, this one is like that since 2019 (due to pandemic). And it costs €50 to request FOI. So I would just give it more time. I belive the time (23 months nowadays) starts when you get the first acknowledgement letter...

Why the wait before clarification attempt?

I have been visiting this forum for a while now, first as a guest, and then when I applied as an active member. I am very curious to understand why applicants wait a year, two years, three years, before they send an email to the department requesting an update on their application, and even doing an...

Re: Scorecard is a positive development

If you look at the first post made in the timeline of 2021, 2020, 2019 was in late or end of January ( for 2019 first applications post in feb ), so by that logic, it’s still very early first application already submitted in 2022 after new point system. Well it is speeding up the process, bcs of un...

Re: Scorecard is a positive development

Well it is speeding up the process, bcs of unclarity people can't really apply for citizenship not to risk refusals, so it's easing the weight on immigration department. Exactly. And some proof, well the only proof we have so far, is that it's the 18th of January, and still there is only 1 person w...

For the sake of those following the thread, the particular quote does not mention if the new scorecard approach that will be used will apply to just new applications (from 1t January 2022 onwards), or all applications that are on hand in the department. It just says that the approach will be differe...

Re: Scorecard is a positive development

Well I think that the issue here is that applicants are not sure whether their application will be judged by the 2021 and before criteria, or the 2022 criteria with the scorecard. Nowhere in the announcement is it actually written that ''Only applications received from January 2022 onwards will be ...
