Re: Scorecard approach for not working candidate

Child benefit is social welfare, the only difference is that it's not means tested like others. The test there is that it stops when the child reaches 18 years of age - whether the payment is still needed or not in the family. For the bank account, it is a shame that she doesn't have one. It really...

Re: Queries in Citizenship Application

Most probably you can provide different bill for each category for each year. 1 bill for electricity, 1 bill for internet, 1 bill for refuse etc. Before scoreboard approach they let you use bills as residency proof but it had to be different bill, can't use electricity bill twice or triple times pe...

Re: Original Passport or Certified copies with Minor Naturalisation application

If the department has mentioned that they are not receiving the passports, this also means that they will most probably take even less responsibility regarding their safekeeping and their return. Of course, the risk is always up to the applicant, but I would mostly suggest trying to find the specifi...

Re: I have not received my reference number after 3 months

Hi I applied my irish citizenship by 5 years residency, sent my application forms on 02/11/2021, received my passport back 1 month later. I was told via phone call that I should get a reference number later, unfortunately there is nothing received since then. Is it normal? do I need to email them? ...

Re: Worried about utility bill for Irish citizenship

The payment from your bank account is not enough - you could be paying off anything, at any given residential, or even commercial address. You need to get hold of the bills. Is there a way, via email preferably, to get the okay from your housemate whose name the bills were in, for you to personally ...

Hi All, I've applied on 16/09/2020 & not received evetting request as-well, anyone on the same situation ? Its worth reading the Citizenship 2020 application timeline thread and apparently people have just recently obtained approval without evetting. So Citizenship team may or may not request e...

Re: Leaving Ireland weeks before naturalisation certificate issued

Another difficult question, upon this matter, is where you actively looking for a job in the UK? That way, I can see more why you are worried about the revelation of the dates. And by the way, you don't have to answer this question here - I do not mean to put you in a difficult position. But it is s...

Re: Leaving Ireland weeks before naturalisation certificate issued

It cannot be clarified as a 'work trip', as actually, you moved to the UK to do that job, with the knowledge that you would go back again and work permanently. So that 4 week gap, in my thoughts, is not a short foreign trip. I think you would have to define the date where you left Ireland, with the ...

Re: Leaving Ireland weeks before naturalisation certificate issued

Are you able to explain your status as to why the Irish citizenship is the only citizenship you hold? Did you hold any others at any point? I think it may help to clarify issues for an answer.

Re: Why the wait before clarification attempt?

The only thing that I cannot understand again and again when this goes through my head, is why on earth would they actually want a backlog? Logically it stops making sense after a while. I'll ask you a counter question: why would they not want a backlog? A backlog only makes sure that their jobs ar...

Re: Why the wait before clarification attempt?

The actual processing time for an application is 12 weeks. How do I know, well most of the applicants who have gone to a solicitor and has sent a letter to the the department has got a decision within 12 weeks. I did it myself. And after I got my certificate I applied for FOI to understand what had...

Re: Why the wait before clarification attempt?

Well, I think they said before that they will usually take 12 months on a straightforward application (now it's 23), so not much of a point in bombarding them with emails hoping to get an update. Also, I would assume during this year they'd send letters without any nudge from you, as application sh...

I get it, just wondering how this whole application process will go down to 6-9 months for the majority of applications. :?: :!:

Re: Why the wait before clarification attempt?

With the current timeline (in 2021 application thread), it takes around 1 year to get to eVetting step, and from eVetting topic, it seems after you approve the eVetting request, it takes 6 months to progress. Most of this timeline (1 year till eVetting and 6 months after eVetting) is caused by wait...

Re: Applied citizenship Dec 2020. Inadvisable to apply for HAP?

This is not a leave to remain situation, it is a citizenship context. Welfare is not some type of dirty tar brush that diminishes peoples' value and life. These 'migrants' pay into the system, and have every right to claim back when they need it. To expect someone to live in poverty, or without fina...
