Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Fortunately for me, I was able to get my parent's ID from a sibling, but I did see 2 other posts, 1 might be useful, the other a bit more discouraging. 1st Post: https://www.immigrationboards.com/ireland/foreign-birth-registration-t277641-3800.html#p2031199 My application was not complete. I was mi...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Seeing as it's been clearly stated that they plan on allocating more resources to the FBR with a view of reducing turnaround times, I actually wonder if that current 2 years waiting time could reduce and people who submit might get it slightly earlier than the currently listed time of 2 years? Or a...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I got tired/bored of waiting, so dropped off the application for my son with the USPS today. They said it would take 5-6 business days to get from the United States to Ireland. Application submitted: April 13th, 2021 I am hoping that this entire process (including Irish passport) is completed befor...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Incredible news! My FBR application has been approved. Here's my journey: Applied online March 2021. Held off sending docs as instructed due to Covid. Found out I was pregnant, Oct 2021. Asked you lovely people for advice. Contacted Passport Webchat (FBR webchat closed) for advice. Given this email...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Managed to myself an affidavit saying I'm estranged from my mother and thus can't provide the required state ID document. Should be fairly straight-forward now methinks. Does FBR agree to such operation? Heard from multiple people before that if you're missing state ID from a parent due to estrange...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

So, on the application form that you print out after completing the online section, under Sections A, B and C pertaining to the applicant (myself) the Irish citizen parent and then the grandparent (who I am applying on the basis of) in each box for each individual person it has a box that says 'mot...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I'm hoping that's the case and they open it very soon. Because I'm hesitant to submit right now because of an issue I have. Not sure if I've made a mistake on the online application part which I submitted yesterday. What is your potential mistake? Hi! So, on the application form that you print out ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Has anyone spoken to a human at the Irish FBR since they "re-opened", which was apparently yesterday? If I am reading the below webpage correctly, you can actually call them now. Not sure if there is a webchat option, which might be easier to reach? I spoke with them by phone 25 months ag...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Just recieved my confirmation of address email after what seems like an eternity. I was surprised as I submitted a half-complete application due to issues with the parent through which I applied. Timeline: Sent application: November 2019 Application recieved: January 2020 Confirmation of address: 1...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Anyone happen to know anything about the FBR Webchat team and when they are re-opening? The FBR itself is obviously open again for new applications but the FBR Webchat is still unavailable and I need to contact them as I have a query. I asked the passport office if they had any idea when the FBR we...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

A question. So when you’re filling in the online application part. Under the respective applicant, parent and grandparent sections, when it asks ‘mothers birth surname’ does that mean the surname of the mother when say, the parent is born or the mothers surname at birth, because I may have made a mi...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thank you so much for the link to the statement from the Irish government. This news is amazing considering they have just ignored most of us for more than a year. Bravo to the government for making this public announcement. Good luck to all. If this implies a full re-opening of the FBR to new appl...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

This might mean something to some of you. Just seen this posted on Twitter and it's straight from the mouth of Simon Coveney, the Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs whose department is responsible for the FBR. https://www.oireachtas.ie/en/debates/question/2021-11-11/296/?highlight%5B0%5D=foreign&...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hey! I have a question regarding proof of address. I have two proofs of address ready (as is needed according to the DFA website). Do these need to be within a specific date? It doesn't say so on the DFA website but just wondering because I have an HM Revenue and Customs employment history letter an...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Ah right! Thanks for your reply. That really clears things up.

I've heard similar before but just wanted to hear from people on here and their experiences. That's great! I've been meaning to ask the FBR people themselves about it but the FBR webchat is closed atm so.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi guys. I have a few questions if anybody is able to answer? Firstly, my grandparent whom I intend to apply on the basis of was born in Northern Ireland, but has only ever held a British passport. Would this still mean I'm eligible? Or would she have needed to have held an Irish passport? Secondly,...
