Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hello. I just joined to add my name to the list of people waiting the long wait. I've been reading the updates on here for ages now. I procrastinated and procrastinated with getting all the documents required for my application. I had started before COVID, but didn't submit my online application un...

This article discusses the same issue. https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2019/mar/22/my-estranged-mother-is-punishing-me-by-thwarting-my-chance-for-irish-citizenship There are over a hundred replies in the comment section. Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I'm in a very similar predicament. I sent mines off in January this year and I am missing my parents state ID document due to estrangement. Sent in an affidavit aswell as a photocopy of her brothers state ID and his birth certificate on a whim, even if it isn't relevant. I did see someone back in De...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Application: 17/10/2020 Documents received: 018/12/2020 ....and the rest we'll see! Glad to see I'm not the only one who's kept this tab open for a year. My application through my maternal Grandmother was pretty straightforward, other than having to order a new birth certificate from GRONI. Anticip...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi there! 1. Yes, certified copies of originals from the relevant registry offices such as the GRO are acceptable. No you don't need to get them 'legalised' they are already certified the moment they are sent out to you. 2. Your mother would have been an Irish citizen since birth since her mother (y...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hey everyone! I loved most of my youth in Ireland and left about 5 years ago. Really regret not getting this sorted then  Anyway, I’m about to submit my FBR application but sadly I’m estranged from my parents and I don’t even know where they are or how to contact them. This means I can’t get a...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi everyone, Delighted to say that completely out of the blue, I have received my 'confirmation of address' email from 'Team 7'. No phone call received, just the email. Updated timeline: Application submitted: 17 Aug 2019 Documents received: 7 Oct 2019 Address confirmation: 17 Jan 2022 Congratulati...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Sounds like they're keeping it under review as the situation develops. As it stands, it remains open but if situation was to worsen could potentially close again.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

So I sent my documents away on the 29th to Dublin via Royal Mail 1st class tracked. The last update was on the 31st of December when it says "item leaving the UK". It's now the 5th of January and no update since. A link on the Royal Mail tracker shows me the local Irish postal service but ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Just posted my FBR application first class tracking. It should arrive tomorrow.

My two year wait officially begins. I’ll let anyone know if the confirmation of receipt email gets sent to me.

Good luck all!

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Anyone able to help? I'm getting 2 proofs of address and on the FBR website it says 'original' Does this mean that they have to have been sent out to me? Or can I print it off? Because I am currently on my uni website and they have an application that allows you to generate a 'student status report...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

This might be the optimist in me speaking, however, I can't help but think the 2 year wait is an over exaggeration. During the COVID period when the FBR office was closed, I would assume there was a vast reduction of applications sent in. Therefore, the the current 31000 applications must be made u...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I don’t find these stats particularly reassuring considering my documents were received June 2019 but I have not heard anything. Based on the conversations I believe I may be the longest in the queue. My fear is that my application is lost in the shuffle. Any advise? After nearly 30 months and hear...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thank you all it’s a relief. I left it for about 18 months and phoned December 20 to be told it was on the pile next to do. I then tried several web chats and go no where. I was so angry come July this year when it had been over 2 years. So I emailed the passport email address with all my dates and...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Also, if you applied in early 2020 then you are almost at the 2 year mark, so you should be near the end I imagine. Do let me know how you get on btw. I'm in the same situation. 2020 was when I was just getting all the certificates together. I had initially thought that "original birth certifi...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Fortunately for me, I was able to get my parent's ID from a sibling, but I did see 2 other posts, 1 might be useful, the other a bit more discouraging. 1st Post: https://www.immigrationboards.com/ireland/foreign-birth-registration-t277641-3800.html#p2031199 My application was not complete. I was mi...
