Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

And just like that my passport has arrived!

My passport card should be here in a couple of working days.

The lengthy journey is over. It took a while, but it was worth the wait. It’s a little bit emotional too.

Thanks for your gift beyond the grave, Nan.

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

My passport and passport card were posted last Tuesday.

I have the tracking numbers and they left AnPost at 4am on Tuesday morning.

No further updates since. I don’t know if this means they have got lost, or if Royal Mail aren’t updating the tracking.

A bit annoying really but almost there!

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Well Royal Mail collected my letter this morning. The guy didn’t know anything about issues sending international parcels, but his computer let him print the label and he said it’s gone through…so fingers crossed.

Hopefully I haven’t just posted my FBR certificate into the abyss.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Apparently, Royal Mail can still send large letters/parcels internationally if you book it online. That's what I've done anyway, with the Dublin passport office as the recipient. Royal Mail has taken payment and is collecting my letter tomorrow morning. There is also a tick box to declare if the let...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Today I tried to post my passport supporting documenting to Dublin via the Royal Mail here in the UK, only to be told they are not sending any large letters or parcels internationally due to a cyber attack four weeks ago. I can send it via parcel force at the cost of £20, or wait until Royal Mail sy...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

My certificate arrived yesterday; I'm over the moon. I need to apply for my passport now, and the form asks for a certified copy of my UK passport. Does anyone know if a black-and-white certified copy will suffice? I sent a colour one with my FBR application, but I can no longer access a colour pri...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Just got a reply from the person processing my application. It’s approved and is in the queue for printing. Standard spiel about Brexit delay etc etc, but is good to finally here that it is due to be printed and has been approved. Congratulations. I bet that’s a relief. I’ve got impatient and have ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

For those that have received a congratulatory email, but have yet to receive their certificate, are you still able to apply for a passport? Also I believe there is a form FBR citizens need to send off to Dublin after their online passport application. Can anyone share this with me? I can’t find it, ...

HNY folks! I'm just hovering about the forum waiting for the trickle of Congrats emails to come in for the last few folks who had their address checks pre-Xmas. As you can tell, I'm pretty patient and chilled about it all  I'm hoping to hear back about my application this month. Last address c...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi all, nice to see people now getting their email confirmations.

I did read in one Irish newspaper that ministers are looking at hiring more people to reduce the processing time, hopefully, this will come to fruition.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Some corners of this forum argue that providing citizenship via FBR to distant relatives of Irish citizens is generous. Is there some controversy around this? I'm not sure if other countries allow the same route to citizenship as Ireland, but I am very grateful that they do. I'm aware of the word p...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi all,
I posted my application today.

I must admit the procedure and guidance isn't the clearest, but I believe I've done it correctly.

I'm very excited anyway, even if it will take two years. I'll feel much happier if/when I receive some sort of confirmation email that they've received my file.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Guys, thanks so much for the insight and the quick reply. I'm thrilled. I’ve actually just let my parents know and they are both pleasantly surprised. I do have a couple more questions if I may. A police officer can certify documents as a true copy of the original, but do you think police (civilians...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi all, I’m so glad I’ve found this forum as I really want to get my application submitted but there is one thing that has confused me on the application form. My grandparents were Irish, but my parents were born in England, and aren’t classed as Irish citizens. My understanding is I am still entitl...
