Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I'd agree, can't be a coincidence that Brexit went into effect Jan 31,2020 and January and February have seemed to take a very long time. Seemed like they were working on December and January for months and months months. I also seem to remember that at the time (back end of 2019) - the Irish Gover...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I feel like this must have been covered by someone already but why is February going so slowly? Was there a massive surge of applicants in February 2020? What are everyones theories? Combination of Brexit kicking in and pre-Covid timing. I saw a 14th Feb get processed. Someone above Dalton? Estimat...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration (passport)

https://www.rte.ie/news/ireland/2022/0630/1307763-passports/ This news story says 2 year wait for a passport for FBR people(!). The passport web site says 25 working days for this category for online first time applications. Anyone have recent actual experience? Hope that's not true, I'm a March 20...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

9 days! I'm an expectant parent and just sent my application on Thursday (9th June). My baby is due on the 19th November. Unfortunately I didn't read this forum beforehand and, although I left a very clear note at the front of my application, I didn't leave a note on the envelope ! Is it likely min...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Are you applying on the basis you or your partners grandparent was born on the island or Ireland? You will need to apply via here https://www.dfa.ie/citizenship/born-abroad/registering-a-foreign-birth/ Online then submit all of the paperwork. You will then need to contact them to tell them your expe...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Echoing the above poster. I submitted my application form in July 2021 but it wasn't registered on the system until late Nov 2021 when the office reopened. Therefore I am using my docs received date of Dec 2021 as the basis of my countdown. It is frustrating to have to wait so long (although I unde...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I don’t think that matters so I wouldn’t worry about it.
Your dad is Irish because his dad was born on the island of Ireland. Just to check, your father wasn’t born in Ireland?

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Congrats!! Love hearing these positive stories!

Feels like the output has slowed recently possibly due to the increase in applications in Jan 2020.

I’m 26 months now! 🙈

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I think it’s more to do with the complexity of the applications. Different teams may be given more complex applications. People on the boards don’t give a context of their own applications. Mine is relatively straight forward but add in far longer time periods or dead relatives/missing documents/mul...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I've been lurking here for a while and finally got some news: Application received: Dec 29 2019 Request for docs: Feb 17 2022 They requested that I send in my mom's FBR, which seems strange because I'm applying through my grandmother (her mother) and I sent in all the appropriate documentation for ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Is it wishful thinking or do other people agree it does seem to be speeding up again? So close to the 2020 applications now! Both my children’s applications were submitted together and received 02/01/2020. Got the address confirmation email today!! Even has an apology for the delay because of COVID...
