Re: Scorecard - Residency Proofs

I'm confused about your solicitor having an issue with official GP letters that stated your previous address. Were you needing to use these for the purpose of covering the 5 years in the citizenship application? What would be the issue with that? You would have a rental agreement, or mortgage state...

Re: Passport Renewal during pending citizenship application

Don’t underestimate INIS :D They were asking non-EU people to send their passport by post EVERY YEAR to get entry visa to Ireland FOR residence permit holders. So even thou you had valid residency, you couldn’t enter to Ireland without the visa. Which costs another 100 euro of course  I don't ...

Re: EU Treaty Right

Just adding my limited knowledge here, if someone doesn’t have valid residence card, they need to get entry visa to enter Ireland, so she can leave country without the issue but to enter back to Ireland she will need visa in my opinion.

LTR application question

I saw another thread and didn’t want to hijack it so here I go: 1- LTR is given for 5 years validity but is your passport needs to be valid for 5 years? If not, then do you get LTR for shorter duration or how does it work. My passport will expire in less than 2 years and I was wondering if applying ...

Re: Ireland - First time passport applications timelines -2021

My son was applying for his first Irish passport and after three months of waiting, they sent us an email requesting ITIA legal translation for his birth certificate. We have submitted the same certified translation as we used for his naturalisation. It was good for getting citizenship but not good...

Just change your address on welfare website and request a new statement. I asked one yesterday after reading this topic and it contains my name and address at first page. So if you change your address on mywelfare.ie then request statement for both participation and usage, Im sure it will contain yo...

Re: FOI request through email or post?

I applied through email and it was quick and easy. I had a response by the next day that my request had been received, a tracking number, and that I would receive a response to my request for documents no later than a specific date which was approximately four weeks after my application. The respon...

Re: Residency Calculator

If your IRP expired on 18.02.2021 just put new one's date as 19.02.2021 and expire date is depends on your situation. I was in similar situation, my residence was expired on May 2020 and I could renew it on September 2020 (bcs of police stations were closed) and this is the answer I got from Citizen...

Re: Chenchooliah or work permit

I will give only one advice to OP. Just spare some money and consult to a solicitor, for fixed price and time you can talk to them and explain them your case. And they can advise you, then you can ask their help or just say thanks and move on. What you are asking is smth that will effect your reside...

Re: Going on holiday after naturalisation application

As, ISD clarified and discussed in forum several times by YEAR it’s not fiscal year( jan -Dec) but 365 days from application date. I might be totally wrong but what you are mentioning is regards 6 weeks continuous residency rule. Yearly 6 week absence allowance is counted between Jan-Dec of each ye...

Re: [Opinion] Lack of response from applicant shared in Oireachtas

I saw the following response from the Department of Justice to a question in Oireachtas (question No 131 on 26/01/2022): "Officials from the Citizenship Division of my Department contacted the person referred to by the Deputy in January 2021, seeking further documents. To date, there has been ...

Re: Going on holiday after naturalisation application

Just for clarification (as I can't edit my post): There is no counter to reset after your application. After your application is sent and acknowledged you will be free to leave country up to 6 weeks per every year as usual. The limiting factor here was continous residence which was the date of your ...

Re: Going on holiday after naturalisation application

AND, this counter resets after you apply, so from the date you applied to next 1 year you can travel outside for up to 6 weeks with no issues . Nothing resets after you apply. Continous residency rule is lifted after your application date. You have to explain your reason of absence if you are away ...

Re: Stamp from solicitor - is it essential?

How would they know who is the solicitor or if that person signing the document is the solicitor without a stamp? The stamp indicates name, business title etc. of the person that is the owner of the signature. Without a stamp there is no difference if a random person signed it or if it's a solicitor.

Re: Spouse refused to sign Section 15A form of citizenship application form.

Well as you can't force her to do something she is not willing to do. You can apply to citizenship by naturalization which takes 5 years of residence in Ireland. Or are you asking for suggestions about how to force your wife to sign it? Or do it without her help? You will need her signature if you w...

Re: No Second Letter Anymore? Citizenship app.

Re: No Second Letter Anymore? Citizenship app.

1 year is too early to request FOI in my opinion, current processing time is 23 months, this one is like that since 2019 (due to pandemic). And it costs €50 to request FOI. So I would just give it more time. I belive the time (23 months nowadays) starts when you get the first acknowledgement letter...

Re: Why the wait before clarification attempt?

I think minimum waiting time is a year for applications to get processed and from what I understand, updates you get from ISD is vague, like "your application is in progress", "it is in late stage" etc. So emailing ISD doesn't really give you any updates. If I am not mistaken you...

You need to let ISD know if you leave Ireland more than 6 weeks in a year after your application. So most likely it won't be a good sign for your application.

Re: Stamp 4 Revoke

That will raise few issues I believe. 1- You will need to get visa for UK which will be in your passport, otherwise you can't enter to UK. And when you enter to London via airport, you will most likely see UK passport police and you will have border entry stamp on your passport. The last one is pure...

Re: Scorecard is a positive development

Well it is speeding up the process, bcs of unclarity people can't really apply for citizenship not to risk refusals, so it's easing the weight on immigration department.
