Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Seems a very wise decision IMHO. I've got an FBR applied for and ready to post (from UK). I don't think I will until Feburary!!

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi schmood,

I know it's a long shot - but are there any documents for your Grandparents such as Passport / Driving Licence? Basically anything that lists place of birth?

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

With my application, a letter from the taxman was accepted, but the water bill & bank statement was rejected. I ended up posting my NHS number medical card. I've just looked at the requirements on the DFA website:- Proof of address such as original government correspondence such as letter from t...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

The advice in that e-mail is out of date it seems....sigh...... They've updated the requirements and I've highlighted the relevant change. Proof of name such as government correspondence like a letter from the NHS, Social Welfare or HM Revenue and Customs. >>If you do not have these, original utilit...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi, revendication - Not having the fathers name on the birth certificate is a massive issue......Suprised you applied with that tbh! Only way round this that I can think of, look at section 12 here - https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/8489...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

Reposting to see if anyone sees this time: I have finished the online application and am preparing to send the documents to Dublin. Hoping for some clarity if anyone can help. "This may be a silly or obvious question, but I see lots of folks referencing that they sent a "certified" o...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I finally got my communication from Ireland. They received my paperwork on February 25, 2020. I sent to them a Certificate of Non-Existence regarding my mother's birth certificate from the county and her baptismal certifiicate. They said that a baptismal certificate was not acceptable. They also wa...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I think it does work both ways, yes when adopted you are legally 'severed' from your birth parents, but there are people (on these forums) that have got a passport when the parent was Irish born but adopted by non-Irish parents. This doesn't quite match your circumstances, however, if the citizenshi...

Re: Question about Irish citizenship through descent

I think your being a bit optimistic there. By public servant, that usually means Diplomatic assignments, and even if it didn't, that would be public service in the Irish government. Sorry I just can't see any way serving for a foreign military with a baby born in a country foreign to the foreign cou...

As a British citizen, you don't need a passport to enter Ireland - so quite pointless.

Hang on a sec....Why would, 2 - Grandparent to hypothetical child, need FBR if one parent was born on the Isle of Ireland?

Re: Could Irish passports get stamped at EU airports?

At schipol airport, a friend asked for his British passport (pre-brexit) to be stamped, he got a puzzled look from the border guard then a "yeah sure". Just ask for a stamp as a souvenir, it's no skin off the border guards nose.

Re: Ireland - First time passport applications timelines -2021

Thanks g dog and Patriot for the update, I've set my expectations accordingly. Our applications, even though we're in different boats, have one thing in common, and it seems it's not regarded as straightforward.

Re: DOCUMENTS LOST IN THE POST??

I can only speak for my own experience - I've received and sent a lot of correspondence UK/Ireland and not a single item has been lost (AnPost/Royal Mail) so far (tracked and untracked). I was really worried about this as one of my docs was issued by an organisation that doesn’t exist any more – no ...

Re: Ireland - First time passport applications timelines -2021

For those that have been on this forum awhile, has anyone come up with a theory yet on how they process the applications? Are there teams such as in the FBR and if you get a bad one you are just unlucky? Some are getting passports weeks before due date some are a month after, there's seems to be no...

jojo1752, very useful....errrr.....thanks

mrbojangles - you have two routes, I get why you have chosen that path.

G Dog, you're in a totally different boat, but I am curious as to what category you applied under? "Born abroad to an Irish-born parent " ?

Re: Born abroad and adopted under Irish law.

If I understand your previous post history correctly, you were born by an Irish born mother and adopted by British parents. I am applying on the basis of my adoptive parents so I am in a completely different boat to yourself.

Re: Born abroad and adopted under Irish law.

Well, I really wish I could PM you, as this is a two person thread. My current understanding is that there is the FBR for born people, and RICA for adopted (Foreign Adoption Register) It seems adoptions are treated differently based on when / where / how, so treat the following as make believe - I t...
