Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi Everyone, Long time lurker as this forum has kept my hopes alive. Need to vent though! Applied and sent documents in June 2020 (never got confirmation of documents arrived, but I tracked them via mail). I see all these July-October approvals so I finally called the urgent number. After 28 months...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Any estimates, predictions, and wild guesses welcome! I'd be reasonably confident you would get your FBR cert in <2 years. A few months ago, I'd have told you 2.5-3 years, but it appears that the backlog is not as big as was feared. They've gotten through the Brexit bump and they are moving through...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi all! 👋🏻 Is it usual for there to be a big variation in the order of applications processed? I applied for Foreign Birth Registration on the 15th of March 2020, and my documents were received in Balbriggan on the 23rd of March 2020. I haven't heard anything from the authorities since... I underst...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I was curious and added a couple of new Monthly Summary pages to the spreadsheet. They're the same as the existing Monthly Summary except: in the first one, I changed the duration calculation to be from the Docs Received date to the Cert Received. It was from "Application" date, but that d...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hello, I've been reading this forum for a while. I applied for FBR for my two boys (9 and 13) in September 2020 (documents received 30/9/20). I had resigned myself to waiting until March 2023 but I've seen posts about FBR not receiving new applications over the summer of 2020. Please can anyone exp...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Amazing, in the last few weeks they must have updated their estimates. They now claim 12-18 months. Very recently their page also said folks should expect more than two years, it now says around 2 years. https://www.dfa.ie/citizenship/born-abroad/born-abroad-citizenship-by-descent-faqs/ Looking at ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

That certainly is good news. However the dfa’s continued insistence that fbr applications are processed in 2 years when it’s clear that that isn’t the case has me wondering whether they really will manage to get through all 2020 applications by the year’s end. I must be in an optimistic mood, becau...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I was told t hat all 2020 applications will be completed by this year's end. That'll be amazing if they can make that happen! We don't have any insight to their backlog, so info like this is golden . Thanks for the info, input-output . All we have for data is in the Google Spreadsheet we've crowdso...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I tracked the “2-tuple” values of the doc received and the address confirmation. Using excel’s network days, found the difference in days between the row above for each date pair ( -1 because it calculates business days or part thereof). Then averaged both sides to get what queue theory mathematici...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I’d been doing some metrics of my own since we entered March. They’re averaging about 1.4 business days to get through 1 day of “docs received”. I’m guessing those only occur on weekdays too. Ultimately they need that 1.4 value to be under 1 or the queue grows. It is shrinking though. It was at 1.8...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Could we please keep this thread on the topic of FBR? There are other threads to discuss passports. For example: First Time Passport Application Timelines - 2022 https://www.immigrationboards.com/ireland/first-time-passport-application-timelines-2022-t324539.html Passport Application Discussion 2022...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Another strange thing from looking at the data in the FBR Timelines Google doc: The numbers ramp up quickly from Dec 2018/Jan 2019, then drop off a cliff. https://i.ibb.co/NyyhFQs/Screenshot-at-2022-08-20-16-41-43.png There are two each in Dec '18 and Jan '19. Then the numbers increase steadily to 2...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Does anyone know how long it usually takes between the confirmation of address email and the processed/printed cert email? I had a look at the FBR Timelines google sheet. According to the sheet, the average time is 11 days. Most are received within a month, although there are some at 2+ months. The...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I double checked, and those outliers were bad data. I fixed them in the spreadsheet.

The longest are in the 1.1 month range and the average is 0.3 months. So, a week or two.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thanks for doing the update. Are there really people who received the Congrats email still waiting about 4 weeks out? Or have they not updated? I know that timeline is conditioned on how far the documents have to go, but I'm trying to get a sense. Column K shows the time from the congrats email to ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi, I received the email acknowledging receipt of documents on 12 June 2019. Then today I had an email asking to provide 2 proofs of address. Is everyone asked to do that? I'm presuming it's because it's been so long since the application was put in but just wanted to check that it's standard. Cong...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

This afternoon I made a pass through the FBR timelines Google Sheet and tried to fill in missing data where I could. I got it from 138/283 (49%) to 154/287 (54%) complete. My process went like this: Starting at the top of the spreadsheet Find an entry where the fields for Congrats email and FBR cert...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

The tracking spreadsheet on Google Docs has suddenly gone private. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/127de6t5A5Q3XzKBOIVHKjnE9Mn0-Xjl3EhYBB2D2epA/edit#gid=108802943 It was there last I looked a few weeks ago. What happened to it? Is it coming back? Anyone have a copy so we can keep this going?

Where does the "Address check" part of the process come in? Somehow (I don't know how) I got the impression it meant they were starting on your application, but from studying the data in the spreadsheet, the time between the address check and the congrats email is pretty short. Is the addr...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Can adopted kids get on the FBR?

My sister is adopted. She was adopted under US law.
Our grandfather was born in Ireland.
She has no idea who her birth parents (or grandparents) are/were. Safe to say they're not Irish.

Can my sister apply for Irish citizenship through the FBR?
