Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi all, After I received my citizenship last year my three sisters were inspired to do the same. They sent off a joint application with their three different addresses (two in UK one in France) and three different countries of birth (Australia, Canada and UK - our parents were great travellers), so ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Question about siblings in different countries. There are 4 of us currently residing in 2 countries...we all share the same Irish grandfather, we all want to get our FBR. FBR web site says that siblings can submit multiple applications in one envelope all sharing the same ancestral certificates, bu...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Apologies as I know there is another thread for passports but this may apply to FBR as well. There was a recent question about contacting witnesses in different time zones. This worried me too as I live in Melbourne which is currently eleven hours ahead of Dublin so no office hours overlap whatsoeve...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi all, I'm curious about the wording people are getting in their address check email. I remember a while back the address check was a formality just prior to the congratulations email. but I had the following paragraph in mine: "Receiving this email is in no indication of a successful outcome ...

They have received a clarification email yesterday (12 Oct 2022) to evidence the catholic confirmation names of their Irish ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Following that last post, I would like to reassure the newbies to the forum that most of us are here to give each other advice and support. We don’t sneer at people who might make a mistake on the form and we don’t think the FBA staff are our enemies.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I think my Grandad came over from Ireland to Scotland with his family as a child. My dad was born in Scotland. The reason why I was concerned is that my Grandad fought in WW2 with 3 of his brothers, and I wondered if perhaps he needed to be a British citizen to do that? Or renounce his Irish citize...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

One thing to bear in mind is whether you need your birth certificate for your marriage, in which case you can always order a duplicate copy.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

This is all perfectly normal in Europe. In France on really official documents, for example when we bought our house, it is my maiden name that is used, even though my passport and driving licence show my married name. It makes sense to me as the name you were born with is the only one that doesn’t ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thank you so much for that information, which is excellent news for me. As we live in Australia that means no more ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I’m in a similar position as door-to-door tracking from Australia to Ireland is not available with our post office. I sent my documents in June 2020 and have heard nothing since, as expected. I have read other posts of people hearing nothing until the address check so I’m remaining optimistic.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Very helpful thank you and that is an impressive fag packet! I do think we can be more confident about the speed of processing, however. If they can process 7000 in 12 months when the office is closed and most of the staff are redeployed then surely they can do better than 12,000 in 18 months when t...

Morning all, Long time lurker, and very appreciative of all of the information. I applied in June 2020. I sent all my documents a few days after we were told not to, not for any sensible reason but because it had taken so long to gather all my documents I couldn’t bear for the whole thing to grind t...
