Hmm, not nice language for a respectable muslim woman to use, especially a revert. No I'm not being pious, I'm a revert myself. Not a nice example, sorry to say

Yes, it isnt easy to understand regarding womens rights in Islam. Plural marriages are usually done for the husbands convenience, heck what the women think :D It can work very well, and some would argue that it prevents affairs etc. But to treat all wives equally is not easy, and would be discourage...

Sorry I did not answer your question. But no, I dont think he can take her to Greece as his dependent. He would have to try some other way.
If he tried to bring her here he would be refused. What kind of visa are you thinking about when you say dependent?

Only his UK marriage is recognised within UK law. His 2nd marriage that took place in another country is not a crime here. I thought I had explained that sufficiently. But UK law can say he has committed adultery, and is grounds for divorce. An Islamic marriage is only that. The UK see it as cohabit...

He would not be considered a BIGAMIST. The UK only recognise the first marriage. Had bigamy been committed I would have chosen this route myself. These situations are very common. There is little or no honesty in such situations. It's a big scam all the way in most cases. Perhaps this OP would like ...

Your friend A probably married C without the consent of B. (My situation is very similar in some ways- I was not informed of the 2nd marriage. But that is another story.) It seems very strange that A and B are in agreement for C to go to Greece, yet C doesnt know whats going on(?) The marriage of A a...

Thanks John, Did you not see my later post though? I know my husbands case was slightly different in that he was already in the UK when we married, as a failed assylum seeker. So it that case, until his spouse visa was approved I had to financially support him for his application to be considered. Y...

You seem to take all posts very personally. No-one comes here to offend others. It is for all to give as much help as possible. Your islamic marriage is just that, and you need to have an English one too in your circumstances. Under new rules, you have to get permision. I did both. It is necessary t...

Several points for you to consider. If your British fiancee is supporting you for your spouse visa, then one of the conditons is that she can financially support you when you apply for it, and will need to show her working status. This is important to the HO. However after you get the spouse visa sh...

Hi, Thanks for your update. It sounds as complicated as my situation, so I understand your worries. As a dependent on your husband perhaps you didnt qualify for legal aid regarding a divorce. But at least now you have a supportive partner who can proceed for you when you go home. Going home is the r...

Yes, if you are applying for a spouse visa for your husband you need to show you can support him, and not on benefits.

I could say 'luck of the Irish' but not appropriate in this situation. :D So good luck you have British Passport. But I hope when you go home you encourage others to NOT tread the path you previously chose to come here to the UK. Are you grateful by the way, or laughing your head off because you bea...

I'm confused here. You say you can't get a divorce from your current husband, yet you say you are going to Germany to marry someone else next month? :? I dont understand how you cant get a divorce. Your husband can contest the divorce, but I dont see why it is taking this long. You say 7years? :? Or...

Hollie Lee -Lots of failed assylum seekers have returned home and have been successful with a spouse visa. But the ones I knew about, my husband being one, was before the new Immigration Ruling this year.
Check with an immigration solicitor who can explain it fully.
Hope this is helpful

Firstly I would say see a solicitor and see what they say. You said settlement visa, surely you mean spouse visa? Also, could you go to Kuala Lumpar and marry her in the British Embassy? I think you make make these kind of arrangements, But check this one out. Just something I heard in another case....

I understand you want to stay here. But as others have said, you are an illegal. You came here on a visit visa. This does not entitle you to work, so how can you say you pay your taxes? You wouldnt legally have been issued a National Insurance number. I am all for people coming to the UK, but they s...

I understand your frustrations. You can divorce your husband, regardless of whether he agrees or not. You have satisfactory grounds for divorce. A UK divorce takes approx 3 months. If your husband contests it can take approx 6-9months. What stops you from starting this proceedure. I assume it is a U...

I have been researching Pakistani law this afternoon. The below link under part 6 clearly explains about pakistani marriage. The penalty for failing to comply is also interesting. Thanks sb for giving me the incentive to research more. http://www.vakilno1.com/saarclaw/pakistan/muslim_family_laws_ord...

He's kindly told me that he is contesting it, so that will mean he probably will apply to sta...
