Hi masalawalla, I know perhaps you are a bit disappointed after seeing the solicitor. I was initially too. But what you need to remember is that he can only advise you on divorce and he wont take into consideration her immigration matters. I was advised that immigration solicitors could help me, but...

masalawalla, Good you have confirmation of the solicitors appoinmtent. I hope you can get the divorce papers served to her OK. Best you start divorce proceedings rather than hope she does. I expect the solicitor might suggest divorce on the grounds of unreasonable behaviour. If she contests the divo...

I hope that when your husband applies for another visa that the HO will take into consideration all your husbands deceptions. I am also hoping for the same thing. Unfortuna...

And good idea for her to get the local MP to back her.
Hope you're OK too.

Salaams brother, An update as promised. When divorce papers are served, an official takes them to the other person. If they refuse to take them, then the official has to swear an affidavit saying he tried. The solicitors then can continue with the divorce for you. If the other party takes the papers...

Salaams sister, Sorry to hear you are going through this too. It's a horrible situation to be in. To answer your question. If you e-mail a PUBLIC STATEMENT to settlementisb@fco.gov.uk they will alert the system. He has a spouse visa, right? You are his sponsor? Let me explain further 1 The above ema...

Salaams Brother, Your solicitor needs you to take your passport or driving licence as form of ID for the solicitor to proceed with the divorce. Just a regularity, and nothing to worry about. I think then he will take a copy and hand your passport back to you. He also will need your last 3 months ban...

Thanks viney for the sound advice. I think I should do these things. He was very persistant with his phone calls yesterday. Obviously he realises that he cant do much in the UK without my support. Not sure he has a leg to stand on regarding immigration. Too much past history. I did tell him to use s...

Some good advice viney :D
Our brother seems to be doing really well. It's so good that as humans we know how to proceed with these awful things, once the head takes over from the heart.
I'm doing well now, too :D

This is excellent news! Now try and relax before you see the solicitor. Keep focused on the task ahead, and move forward with your life, knowing that you at least kept your side of the bargain regarding the marriage. Well done! :D

salaams bro. thanks for keeping us updated. You sound more possitive too. Thats good. Hopefully, by the time you read this post, your wife will have voluntarily left the house. After all, why should she desire to stay, if you have supposedly been unkind to her? Press for the divorce ASAP. By doing s...

Hello bro. I am only just catching up with this thread. How terribly sad, and worrying for you and your family. You must continue to keep a record of all conversations. Every little detail might help you further down the line. It seems like you are now acting in the only way you can. Did you say you...

masalawalla, This kind of situation is happening on a big scale. My situation is similar, and I sponsored my husband for his spouse visa. He returned to Pakistan and married another, without telling me. It is obvious that he has also used me to remain in the UK. His spouse visa expires in Oct 2008. ...

It feels good that I have moral support with this. And who knows, perhaps one day he'll realise his errors. I'll get through this, that's for sure. I always thought he was like a headless chicken. But he is an egg on legs, cant see a thing. :D

Having read a few posts on other threads. I have a question. As my husband has had such a colourful history regarding his legal status here, and lied on his assylum seeker application for one, and using a different name and DOB( he was refused with this), worked illegally for 5 years, got his spouse...

Well. An update. Under UK law his other marriage is not recognised. So bigamy, no... poygamous marriage, yes. I have requested his spouse visa is cancelled. Waiting to hear from the Pakistan Embassy still. I am now starting divorce proceedings, which he probably will contest, so a lengthy process, a...

How can your friend to forget to apply for IRL? You are not giving us the complete picture. If she had a spouse visa, she would remember when it would expire. After all, it's a big issue for her isnt it? My feeling is that applying here might not be successful. In effect she has deceived the authori...
