Re: Extension refusal - IELTS / English skill score below 5.

Will the institution issue a CAS in such circumstances? The institution could accept the student with the test with 6.0 overall (but one score at 4.5), but I'm not sure - could the institution issue a CAS based on the lower overall score? In any case the correct minimum score is 5.5 (contrary to th...

Re: Extension refusal - IELTS / English skill score below 5.

Thanks.

The student took another test with overall score of 5.5 - not enough for the institution's requirements, but all scores are 5.0 or above.

Therefore do you think the student could make a new application based on this test? The student's leave expired on 1st November.

Extension refusal - IELTS / English skill score below 5.0

Hi there, I wonder if anyone has any advice for a student who has just been refused an extension to her student visa (in order to study a degree) because one of her skills (writing) was below 5.0 on her IELTS test (she scored a 6.0 band score for the test overall). She did score a 6.0 in writing on ...

No but she decided to re-apply, and has recently been invited for biometric assesment. We'll keep our fingers crossed.

Extension application returned invalid; can student reapply?

Hi there, My friend's student visa expired in October 09 and she sent an application for an extension in time, only for it to be returned last week as there was a problem with the card details for taking payment of the fee. I like to ask whether there she is able to send a fresh application given th...

Brazilian girlfriend moving to UK

Unfortunately her visa was nearly expired so she had to go back to Brazil. We wanted to continue the relationship but obviously having only know...

Student Visas - Minimum Time Period to Apply in Brazil

Hi there, My friend from Brazil is applying to come over a student and her course starts on 27th October. However, she is still waiting for her acceptance letter which she needs to send with her application. Could anyone tell me if this means she doesn't have enough time to apply now (it is the 2nd ...

So she was working whilst here? A babysitter is a type of employment (au pair), is it not? A visitor should not engage in any type of economic activity - even babysitting is viewed as working. If she does come next time, ensure that she doesn't do anything in return for something else (like this)! ...

Other important factors to consider before she thinks of coming back so soon are; (1)what are her circumstances in Brazil? (2) Does she work? (3)Does she have a reason/reasons to return to Brazil at the end of her visit to the UK? (4) An IO would also be most interested in knowing what she was doin...

Girlfriend wants to revisit UK - visitors / fiancé visa?

Hi there, I met my girlfriend in September last year when she visited the UK from Brazil. This was near the the end of her six month visa so we only had about 5 weeks together. We keep in touch on the phone and online and would like to be together again so we can continue our relationship but we’r...
