Hi im a portuguese citizen (i was an indian national before this but i recently was naturalised as a portuguese citizen) on my old indian passport i had a residence permit for 5 year. but now i have to give up my indian passport (india doesnt allow dual nationality) do i need to get a residence perm...

but wouldnt they be 'searching' for me (me on the indian passport) after i havent 'returned' to the UK ?

i mean i would have returned as an EU citizen but wouldnt they keep tabs on people who leave with visas and expect them to return back? i dont know if im making any sense

thats actually my second dilemma :? say i go on my indian passport with a visa and stuff..after getting all my portuguese documents , it would invalidate my indian passport..so if i do get into the country with my EU passport, wouldnt they be expecting me to be back in the country on the indian pass...

i think im going to lisbon to sign the few documents that are left. the reason i chose to do that instead of doing it in london (where i handed my documents) is that the people in the embassy in london are really rude and my dealings with them havent been a pleasant experience as i mentioned earlier...

In goa, basically if you were born before 1961 (that is when goa ceased to be a portuguese colony)..youre entitled to portuguese nationality

and ur right, the waiting times are ridiculous..my dad waited for 8 years before he got his..its taken me 6 years...and i moved to the UK 3 years ago.

i think that could be done. but the embassy employees are really rude and wont give any proper information. my aunt lives in portugal and her friend is a solicitor who will help me with all the documents. it would be easier for me to take help from someone who knws what they are doing

thats what i am going to lisbon for . to collect my passport and ID card etc. Stupid visa hassles will be a thing of the past once i get hold of that
