Sending money from India to UK

Hi, I plan to invest some money in India via an NRO/NRE account. However, I am very confused about what are the laws governing the repatriation of such money to UK. As this is money has already been taxed in UK, will there be any further taxes when I move it back? Any information or direction to whe...

Oh ok... you are right. Unless 11 months' pay is enough to get the points required for your extention you will have to do it on the same day!

Hi Sushma,
Probably I am just being thick here, but if the visa expiry date is 1 Nov, why do you want an appointment for the exact same day? Why not 10-15 days prior to the actual expiry date?

The reason for the new section in the form could be that they are interested in stats re how many people have actually been living in the UK for all of the 2 years when they apply for extension. Considering that there are people who have come to the UK just to get their visa extended and have been s...

If you do know that the fees has increased, then the simplest thing to do would be to use the new form. Why would you want to add complexity to your application esp given the state UKBA is in nowadays?!

I assume you plan to drive on a driving licence that is not issued by the UK in which case you will also need to think about how long will this licence be valid for in UK. You might have to apply for a UK licence after that validity period which is also an expense. Also taking insurance on an intern...

As sushdmehta says the license will be show the date that it was issued in UK but there are some insurance company's that might be willing to give you the benefit of your previous driving experience if you can get proof of no-claims from your previous insurers. However, this is done on a case by cas...

The problem will be when the next visa application is made by the same applicant. The entry/exit date stamps on the passport will show that the applicant did overstay on his/her last visit.

UKBA also conducts raids and random checks to catch immigrants living in the UK without permission to do so.

In my experience different branches follow slightly different procedures, so if you are really in a soup try going to a different branch and get the statements. Another thing to try would be, if they are not willing to stamp your printed copy, they might agree to print out your statement in the bran...

Unfortunately as it is a tourist visa, she cannot extend from here. (At least that is my understanding, can others please confirm.) Do you mean to say she was issued a visa for only 3 months? I haven't heard of that happening before! They always issue visas for 6 months is what I thought. Did you mo...

The 15 month period immediately preceeding his application date starts from 02/July/2011. Therefore he should be able to claim points based on his salary for the period OP has mentioned.

Yes, you can do that. You dont necessarily have to be in employment at the time of applying if you satisfy the earnings requirements (which based on the info you have supplied you do).

My only worry would be - what if the dependant's application is processed faster than the main applicant's, what is to stop UKBA from granting a new leave to the dependant based on the main applicant's current leave?

You will get your BRP card when you apply for the next extension - you dont need to/cant apply for them separately.

There is no law re how many days you can stay outside UK but it might pose a problem when you go for ILR.

I don't think they care about what period your payslip is for (weekly, monthly etc) as long as the amount in the payslip matches the credit in your bank statement. Re Q3, I don't think it makes a difference, you can highlight it and explain in your covering letter that £1000 has a slightly different...

As per my experience there isn't a lot of time gap (max 1 week) between receiving the approval letter and BRP card so why would anyone want to leave in that short time period?
