Here is one case. It wasn't refused due to short visa validity duration but as the purpose of visit was not inline with the visa.

Sorry but I haven't heard of any other such cases.

Technically, i think, you should be able to enter UK even with just a month's validity left on your visa. If asked at the airport you will have to convince the immigration officer that you are here for the same purpose that your visa was issued for - which is to work and make UK your home. You shoul...

No one can tell you the anticipated revised timelines other than UKBA themselves. The only reason I can think of for the delays is that there has been a surge in the number of applications due to everyone trying to get their application in before the fee rise in April.

He can travel to India and get his dependant visa d...

You will have to apply for extension before you go to India as you can't do that from outside UK and if you go there and your visa expires you will not be able to come back.

I am not sure as I did not require these myself but probably passport copies of any of these people with their permanent India addresses and relation proofs like your sister's passport would have your mother's name I guess.

I agree with Greenie - health visitors do encourage you to apply and let HMRC decide. The problem is not around the person not knowing his/her rights as an immigrant but more of trusting a competent and govt authority like HMRC to make the right decision. I bet that al least 50% people would trust a...

She could show close family ties like a brother or sister or other children.

You are right about lot of visas being rejected cause HO did not see a strong enough reason for the individuals to go back to their home country. So make sure you do present a convincing reason for your mum.
I know of people who have got the extension from the date their current leave expired. So it really depends on the case worker.
This probably must have been before they had this rule clearly stated or an odd uninformed case worker now.

The extension will be just like the first extension every time. So if you had an initial 3 year visa with 2 yr extension then the second extension (and all future ones) will be for 2 years. If your initial visa was 2 years with a 3 yr extn then all others will be 3 years as well.

Yes, i believe you can use overseas earnings to gain points for T1 extension but you can not apply any uplift ratio. It will simply be your earnings converted to GBP at the current conversion rate.
