The 5 year continuous period will be counted back from the date of your application and therefore if you apply in Sep 2013, any period or leaves before Sep 2008 will not be included.

This is a bit worrying and then what about self employed people - all their holidays are always unpaid!
Also what is the maximum number of days that you can pass off as a family visit holiday without being questioned for it?

I am confused - why would anyone declare any holiday as being taken for serious and compelling reasons unless it is more than 180 days per year?

If the absences are less than 180 days per year, then as per the current rules T1G holders do not have to give any proof - isn't that right?

I had called up their customer service with the same query and they said as long as they are able to reasonably match your name/dob on your identity proof document (e.g passport) to what you entered while booking they will let you in.

I am going to apply for dependant extension soon and I will enclose only a copy of the main applicant's passport and visa self attested by main applicant.

I dont think they need the originals esp since its taking as long as 5 months to get a decision now.

The logic is very simple, appointments for a certain day are released exactly 42 days before that day. If the day 42 days after today is a Saturday or a Sunday, the PEO will be closed and hence no appointments are released.

Your son can remain in the UK without a visa and there is no rule that makes it mandatory for you to apply for one. However, if you are planning on taking him out of the country, he will need a visa while entering back. As far as I know, children are allowed in the visa office even if they are not o...

Thanks Sushdmehta. Yes it was Croydon. I don't think they can really refuse a visa on these grounds. They would def lose if the decision was challenged as it is not in their written rules. However, to save oneself from all the grief, the easiest thing to do in my opinion is to take a print out of th...
