I believe that is how it should be.

I have not heard of a case where an early application has been questioned at all - I myself applied 6 months before the expiry date and no questions were asked re early application.

The 5 year continuous period will be counted back from the date of your application and therefore if you apply in Sep 2013, any period or leaves before Sep 2008 will not be included.

I am confused - why would anyone declare any holiday as being taken for serious and compelling reasons unless it is more than 180 days per year?

I had called up their customer service with the same query and they said as long as they are able to reasonably match your name/dob on your identity proof document (e.g passport) to what you entered while booking they will let you in.

As sushdmehta says, the gap will be disregarded only if the duration between WP expiry and T2 ICT application is less than 28 days.

Do remember that based on people's experiences on this forum, it might take a while to get all your documents back after you withdraw your application.
