Re: Does the EEA Family Permit apply to Brits?

Yeah, my understanding is, after reading through lots of this immigration stuff, that as long as I and my children's grandparents are alive and well in the UK then we couldn't make the case that my children would 'need' to leave the EEA with my wife. GMB - I really appreciate your positive answer. Y...

Does the EEA Family Permit apply to Brits?

Hello everyone! I'm very confused by all the visa options available. Can I just run this past you? I'm British. My wife is Japanese. We have two British children. We are returning to the UK for one year so I can do a uni course. I don't meet the financial requirements of the UK spouse visa. My wife ...

Can returning Brit-kids access NHS?

Hi! My two children and I are British. I understand that as a Briton who has lived overseas for some years I cannot get full access to the NHS for 3 months after I arrive back in the UK. My question is, can my children get full access to the NHS as soon as they arrive in the UK? (I'm hoping that bec...

Re: Best option for temporary return?

Hi guys! Thanks for the replies. I really appreciated reading the dialogue that developed. Casa - Yeah, I read that about stocks & bonds needing to be cashed in. Although the dividends count, I definitely don't have £16k coming in (or whatever it is). Petaltop - Thanks for the advice on the NHS....

Re: Best option for temporary return?

Hi there. Thanks for your reply. That's a shame they've withdrawn it. Yeah, I've been accepted onto a 1 year uni course in Birmingham. It's just so annoying that there's no other option for a one year stay. We don't want to access the state welfare system in any way. Does anyone know of any other po...

Re: Best option for temporary return?

Wow! Thanks for your reply! I now have literally no idea what to do! :D I think we'd meet the financial savings requirements although our savings are mostly in stocks and funds rather than cash. One more thing... I read somewhere that if we've been married for over 4 years she would be able to get I...

Best option for temporary return?

Hi! I'd be seriously grateful for any advice you can offer. My wife is Japanese and a holder of ILR. However we've been out of the UK for 4.5 years. We now want to return with our two British children for 12 months. Me and the kids are fine because we're British. What is the cheapest way for my wife...

Do you think a 'home' means somewhere to live or ownership of a property?

after 2.5 years away, the inevitable question

My wife (Japanese) and I would like to return to the UK. She has UK ILR but has been absent for 2.5 years. We left because she was pregnant and wanted to be near her family while she was a new mother. So, the inevitable question is: Would the IO let her keep ILR on the grounds of keeping strong ties...

Thanks for your replies. She doesn't want UK citizenship because it would mean formally giving up her original nationality. Maybe we'll just tell the truth and see what happens whenever we do need to re-settle in the UK. The fact she has significant funds in the UK, a British husband and a British c...

Maintaining ILR

My wife is returning to the UK having been out of the country for just over twelve months. However, we're only returning for a three-week holiday. We'd really like for her to be able to keep her ILR status, but we have no immediate intention of returning to the UK permanently. But we might after abo...

QUERY: ILR status but living outside UK

If my wife has ILR and is living outside the UK she would ordinarilly lose her ILR if she is outside the UK for more than 2 years. However, if she returns to the UK during that 2 years for a 2-week holiday, is the two years reset to the date of the holiday? Or does she need to be present & settl...

If they let me in that'll be great. If not, I'll give the morale support up until the waiting area (or wherever I'm allowed).

ILR Application Form

Hey guys,

My wife has an ILR appointment at a PEO. Does she have to post her application in advance of the appointment or present it in person?

Many thanks! :)

ILR @ PEO

My wife has an appointment for ILR. Do I, as her UK husband, need to attend? The confirmation of appointment just said only those registered may attend the appointment. We didn't register my details as they weren't asked for on the online booking form. Did other Brits with foreign spouses attend the...

ILR Application in Person

Hello! I've just booked my wife into an interview for their faster processing (apply in person) service. This is for a Set(M) application for ILR. However, I was under the impression that both me (British husband) and my wife had to attend. At the end of the booking process it said only the register...
