Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I did not include the divorce certificate in my FBR process only the two official marriage certificates showing parent/mother name changes. While I did not need to produce it (thankfully as it took a very long time to get it from the county offices) that same parent was told by the Passport office i...

I believe small inaccuracies are quite normal. In my case a maiden last name had a different spelling and a date of birth was a bit off from birth certificate and death certificates. I also have relatives where baptismal birth dates can be months different from civil birth certificates. People had 6...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

You may want to ask for a new copy(s) from Ireland. I found the ordering process to be relatively straight forward and the certs arrive timely. I had many details incorrect on my first order but they found the correct birth certificate. https://www2.hse.ie/services/births-deaths-and-marriages/order/...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

It looks like applying online is the best way. The other way is to just mail everything in, takes longer.

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

It is a bit confusing but yes you are correct as it does appear that the PSC card is the lone exception, where all other forms of copied government issued ID's require the solicitor or notary to certify it. My apologies!

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

The copy of your card does need to be certified by the witness.

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

A good color scan/copy/photo of the US passport signed by the official witness is accepted as proof for FBR and Passports.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

If either you or the Father was born in Ireland then Foreign Birth Registration is unnecessary as your baby is considered an Irish citizen. You can go straight to the Passport process. If you or the Father is also an Irish citizen via Foreign Birth Registration then the child will need to also be ad...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

FYI I received my initial Application confirmation email in my spam folder. Try doing a search for 'dfat.ie' and see if anything shows up. Good luck!
