My understanding is that Visa is a permission to enter the country and it should be specific ( Exact Date) so if your visa start's from 10th August 2008 then you can not enter the country before that date therefore plan you journey from 10th August 2009 to onward otherwise you might not permitted to...

if u got 3 to 4 year baclr degree along with master
get equalivlnt certificate from uk naric and u will be fine
when u send ur qualification to uk naric
write a covering letter and explain ur year in graudation
and master and then u will be eligble for educational points
