Hello, I added my wife's application to my form, using the option Partner over 18. She's self employed and so I ticked this option in the Employment Section. Based on the posts in this forum, Self Assessment Tax Return and SA302 are mandatory, if one is self employed. However, the list of documents ...
Thanks all for your help and patience. My only outstanding question then is around the missing UK entry stamp on wife's passport. On her latest entry back into the UK in Feb 24, her passport wasn't stamped by UK Border Control. There is a departure stamp from India for the same date. Should I just s...

Thanks contorted_svy for your time! 1) Based on various Google searches, Tax Office Reference Number does appear to be a the PAYE reference number for the employer but I can't find an official source (gov.uk) to confirm it. Does anyone have this or have a different view? 2) On English language requi...
Hi all, A few follow-up questions if you can help please. Background - My wife and I have Indian passports and we got ILR in Aug 2023. We are looking to apply for British Citizenship now. 1) I get an option to add a Partner above 18 to the application after I have completed my form. Do I need to add...
Thanks for your reply. The IELTS test from 2018 is well over 2 years old and I didn't use it for my ILR application as I was exempt (given that I proved my knowledge of English on a prior work visa). As per the guidance on gov.uk below, I need to provide the evidence for English for citizenship even...
I got my ILR in August 2023 on 5 year ILR route (Tier 2 General in 2018). I proved my knowledge of English on the Tier 2 application using an IELTS test.
Will I need to provide proof for knowledge of English on my citizenship application?
I will be submitting my application on Tuesday (just waiting for the latest bank statement to be generated) and doing the final checks on my documents. Re: the letter for absences from the employer, the letter from my employer states the following - We confirm that Mr XXX’s absences have been connec...
Thanks Zimba for your help. Checking online, we got a Life in the UK test slot for Saturday (i.e without waiting for 7 days). As this doesn't delay our planned submission of the application, my wife will re-take the test to have the correct place of birth linked to the URN. Can the online applicatio...
I contacted them and their advice was that place of birth doesn't matter and that if any of the relevant details were incorrect, they wouldn't allow the test.
But as they are the test centre (and not HO), I'm being cynical
My wife managed to return to the UK for a couple of weeks to take the Life in the UK test and submit the ILR application. She has just passed the Life in the UK test but noticed that the place of birth on the URN email is incorrect. She inputted the wrong place of birth on the Life in the UK account...
Context - Just as I was all ready to submit my application on 1st August, a spanner in the works. I was waiting for my wife to return to the UK this week and pass her Life in the UK test, in readiness for our joint application on 1st August. She may not be able to return just yet due to a family em...
Thanks. Sorry for another and hopefully the last question. The last statement on my account was generated on 11th July and I will request a new statement on 31st July after my salary is credited on 31st July. As a result, the latest statement I submit for my application will be from 11th July to 31s...
Hello, I'm planning to submit the application online on 1st August because my salary will be credited on 31st July and this needs to match the July payslip (which will be issued on 25th July). I will ask my Bank to generate a statement after salary is credited on 31st July. As the Bank generates the...
Thank you. I have now completed the draft of my application online but waiting for my wife to return to the UK (she's currently traveling) for her to the take the LIUK test, before I submit the application. As I can't move to the next step of submitting the application just yet, I want to get all my...
The document checklist states that I need to provide all previous passports used to travel to the UK. How do we infer that the requirement is for last 5 years only? Is there any Home Office guidance around it?
Thanks Zimba. The form requests all previous passports/travel documents used to travel to the UK. When I get to uploading the documents, 1) Should I upload all pages of previous passports or just the relevant ones with UK visas and entry stamps? 2) I will upload expired passports and expired BRP car...
Thanks all for your help thus far. 1) Consent forms I'm applying for ILR for myself and my wife (who is a dependent) on the same application. The online form asks us to sign three parts of a consent form - part 1 (applicant), part 2 (joint account holders), part 3 (third party finanical support). Th...
Hi all, I'm in the process of setting up my ILR application. For the question - Have you previously lived in a country outside the UK including your country of birth? I lived in my country of birth (India) until Jan 2011, followed by c. 6 years in the UK on Tier 2 ICT visa and then again 18 months i...
Thanks CR001 and zimba for your help on my questions so far. My wife and I will be applying for ILR together on 17th July 2023. I have the Tier 2 General visa (5 year route) and she will apply as my dependent. 1) For proof of co-habitation, I have sourced the following with the same address - a) Wat...
Is the date of application (which needs to be 28 days before the visa start date) treated as the date when the application is submitted online or when the biometrics are submitted?
Is there any gov.uk guidance which clarified this? I couldn't find any...
Thanks for your reply. In this post, https://www.immigrationboards.com/indefinite-leave-to-remain/earliest-application-date-for-ilr-brp-issue-date-vs-vignette-sticker-date-t316202.html The advice was to use the visa vignette date which is later than than the BRP issue date (same case as mine).
