Thanks Casa, I will suggest she read the UKBA site again - unfortunately she doesn't seem to think they would be nasty at the border and would let her in anyway !

Re: No fiancee visa required to marry in the UK

Has anyone else been told this or aware of similar messages from local councils? Not exactly the same, but in a similar vein - my partner's sister is getting married to her fiancé in Scotland. He is Scottish, she is Australian. They have no intention of living in the UK so don't need a fiancé visa,...

I agree it makes no logical sense to exclude savings, but since when is this whole process logical ?

I think in the past the govt has released their new requirements fairly quickly after the MAC report publication, so hopefully they do the same and help us end our speculations.

A few points I noted reading the full MAC report, I hope I haven't read it incorrectly : - earned income is the only income considered and the report specifically highlights that net wealth (ie savings) is not considered - the income support rates mentioned should increase where there are dependants...

There are a couple of things I'm wondering about now in terms of minimum income. 1. If this rule of £24,000 is applied will the sponsor have to earn that on their own when the couple apply for ILR, even if the applicant has been living and working in the UK for years and has FLR? 2. If the figure ...

The idea of savings is that you use them someday, so it's unfair that everyone is required to have some level of savings. What if you just bought a car or used them for a big purchase? For savings I'd go by the levels set for the Tier2 maintenance, which I think is £800 held for the previous 3 mon...

An annual income level would make sense, if that's the route they go down. As soon as you start looking at what's left over after rent etc it makes no sense - people don't apply for rent and mortgages based on what one of them can afford if both are working steadily. If you look at page 22 of the c...

Their proposals for Maintenance are much stricter : Will only allow 3rd party support in compelling and compassionate circumstances. Will not take into account the applicants potential earnings due to the current economic climate - I didn't think they used much discretion on this anyway unless they...

My boyfriend just got his UPV and we haven't lived together for 2 years in UK - we submitted 3.5 years proof but that was 18 months in UK and 2 years in our home country. From my reading of the notes at the time we applied (Dec 2009 - and I could be completely wrong) the country you lived in was onl...

I have been worried that if it was wrong it would cause trouble in 2 years for the extension / ILR. Gotta stop worrying !

Unmarried partner endorsement query

Hi, My boyfriend applied for an Unmarried Partner Visa and received his passport back with the visa, endorsed "SPOUSE/CP to accompany " with my name and DOB. He queried with the embassy and was told all partner visas were now issued with that endorsement. I saw an older post where the endo...

Unmarried Partner Visa and Intention to Settle

Sorry for the long post but to explain my situation fully...I am a British citizen (by descent - born in Australia to a UK father). My boyfriend is an Aus citizen with no UK ancestry. We have previously lived in the UK for 18 months until Jan 2008 - my boyfriend on a HSMP visa. We returned to Aus as...

Re: URGENT Q ON GIANT UMBREALL COMPANY EARNINGS

I have been contracting though Giant group for the past 6 months but am thinking of going back to Oz to switch to tier 1 as I am on WHV currently. The payslips they have provided me show my contract income than the expenses taken out than my gross salary. If they take my contract income, than I qua...

To say you can just "find anothr job or ask for a raise" is equally stupid. It is not always easy to just find a new job with a higher salary or request a raise and get it. if it was that easy everyone would have no issues with their salaries, now would they. honestly, think before you sp...

Apply from UK or Aus ?

My boyfriend has a HSMP visa due to expire in August 08. We had been living in the UK up until January 08 when we had to return home to sort out some matters. He wants to apply for an extension and from what we have read he needs to apply under the Tier 1 scheme, but do we apply from Aus or should w...

I think its odd to claim earnings from a part time unskilled job towards a highly skilled visa - if your job doesn't pay you enough to qualify than maybe you could try to get a different job, ask for a promotion or pay rise, or try to qualify on a different visa. HSMP is supposed to be for highly sk...
