Can Boris and the church help illegal immigrants in the UK

It seems that few politicians and religious leaders have the balls to go against the rabid media, the BNP , Labour and the Tories to demand a humane solution to illegal immigrants. Will they help regualrise those who have been here for donkeys' years?

cheers

Has there been any sort of amnesty in the UK?

It seems to me that the Home Office is oblivious to any amnesty suggestion and it's likely they will keep dismissing this move as long the right-wingers control the UK media and opinion.

Has there been any amnesties in the past?

Cheers

Any background info on how the overstaying accumulated? I came to the UK on student visa then went to university (short course - not a degree) while I was overstaying. Since i had nothing to go back to, i was trapped into a life of misery. My friends who knew what the Home Office want them to do, t...

Alternatively, if you are highly skilled, you can apply for entry clearance for the HSMP/Tier 1, or any other such visa (such as student visa), if you wish to work/study here. Obvisously the long overstay would be taken into consideration. I would like to hear more about this option. What if the ov...

Any life before 14 years overstay?

For an overstayer who has been in the UK for 11 years, is there anyway to attempt to regularise his status ?

Thank you for your time.
