Unenrolled deedpoll used for British passport valid for OCI?

I had the the no surname in Indian passport issue which I worked around by executing an unenrolled deed poll at the time and got my UK passport in the desired name. Can I check if I can use the same unenrolled deed poll to support my OCI application? VFS tell me that I need an affidavit notarised bu...

Re: Path to Surrender of Indian Passport to get OCI

Thanks for this very useful thread. In which of the below scenario is OCI expected to be expedited faster: 1. SC and RC appointment together at the VFS and once both are obtained then apply for OCI which makes it a straightforward process 2. Get SC first and then apply for RC and OCI together. As OC...

Re: Naturalisation application - planning ahead - no surname on Indian passport

Got my Bp today and the above steps definitely worked. To summarise for others: 1. Get your naturalisation cert 2. Submit an application to surrender Indian passport on same date as naturalisation date. You will get a PDF of application form with a barcode. Affix your photo and sign as indicated 3. ...

Re: Unenrolled deed poll for name change Indian passport with no last name

Thank you!

Can it be on a plain white A4 paper and does it need to have any title etc or can it start directly with the declaration?

Unenrolled deed poll for name change Indian passport with no last name

Those who have changed/rearranged the order of their names via unenrolled deed poll, can you share the template that you have used? I see a template in gov.uk website but note that there is a para on informing police. Is that a must to include in the deed poll even if it’s not applicable in my case?

Just an update- I kept checking the slots early morning and saw few up for grabs. Not sure if every council does it this way but would suggest to keep checking for the slots early morning. Thanks

Citizenship ceremony

I received approval to naturalise today. I was looking to book citizenship ceremony in early May but the earliest private ceremony slot I see in my council is in late May. I don’t think I can change council now but is there any way to bring the ceremony forward? I need to travel mid June and would l...

Re: No surname on Indian Ppt - British Passport

As per my due diligence (because I’ll be in a similar situation should my naturalisation application be approved) this is what I could gather. HMPO’s systems doesn’t allow surname field to be blank so they usually mention your given name as surname and put an xxx under given/first name. Others with ...

Post naturalisation- mandatory update of records

Hi all, I have applied to naturalise in Jan 24 so still early days. I would like to know if there is any mandatory requirement or recommended list of authorities in the UK that I need to inform after naturalisation. Below is the list I could think of and appreciate it’s quite subjective but just wan...

Re: Naturalisation application - planning ahead - no surname on Indian passport

Very helpful, thank you!

Helpful if you could post update in the OCI forum on whether unenrolled deedpoll worked for OCI application after you get OCI with name as per BP.

Thanks again!

Re: Naturalisation application - planning ahead - no surname on Indian passport

Thanks for sharing your experience. Few questions please: 1. When you applied to surrender the Indian passport, was that just the application form that was sent to HMP i.e. you still had the physical Indian passport with you? I am just trying to work out if I will be passportless at any given time? ...

12 months with ILR

Dear experts, I was issued ILR on 30 Jan 2023. I know I should have been in the UK on application date minus 5 yrs. I meet all the residency requirements in terms of absences. I was away from the UK from 31 Jan 2019 until 22 Feb 2019. Can I apply on 30 Jan 24 or should I wait until 22 Feb 2024 on a ...

Will I need BP to surrender Indian passport it is naturalisation certificate will suffice. The HCI guidance says to attach BP but will a cover letter to explain that I haven’t obtained the BP yet suffice?

OCI card - renting in UK

Hi all, I am just researching at the moment as I’m yet to apply to naturalise. I shall be grateful if anyone can guide me to the right posts or share some thoughts on: 1. I rent in the UK. Naturalisation application - planning ahead - no surname on Indian passport

Hello all, Been reading many posts on ‘no surname’ matter for Indian nationals. Some posts were older than a decade so thought I’ll checkin to see if any one had any recent experiences which they’ll be willing to share. I’m yet to apply to naturalise (eligible soon) but I’m not keen to update my cur...
