Thanks. That's the way we see it too. Our father died in 1998, so this will no matter to him. It does to us though, we would very much like to reclaim our Canadian heritage and legal status. Of course, whenever CIC gets around to implementing this law, some of us may have died off too. To put it mil...

If you are an Indian, it helps you. If you are not, then as I said, it is too bad you are not, because then you would NOT need a permit at all.

You may want to contact some American companies, and see if they need you. If they do, then you can get a permit.

According to the State Department web page that was cited above, the girl would in fact be an American citizen. Her father lived in the US more than enough years to qualify. She will need his birth record, and a few other documents, to prove her citizenship. Then, she get a passport through the U.S....

Under the laws of the United States of America, any child born to an American citizen, is an American citizen. It does not matter where in the world that child was born, they are an American citizen. That citizenship can not be taken away no matter how long they live in other countries. It has no ag...

There are indeed people that hold two, and sometimes more, valid passports from different countries.

My younger sister has both Canadian and US passports, as she is a citizen of both countries. I will soon be in the same status, thanks to Canada's new bill C-37.

Infantry, and other "non-skilled" jobs are open to non citizens. Only occupations that require some degree of a security clearance are totally closed. I personally served with many aliens (in the legal sense) during my 10 years in the Army from 1959-1969. I still know of several legal alie...

You might enter the country illegally, but that is it. You chose to leave in lieu of deportation. Obviously, they had the grounds to deport you. They must have ahd a reason why they wanted to deport you, but you chose to leave voluntarily, rather than to be permanently barred from entry. The law is ...

Too bad you are not 50% or more Canadian Indian. They require no work permits or visas at all. They just have to prove that they are Indians, and under the provision of the Jay Treaty, they are allowed to freely enter the US. (The Jay Treaty ended the American Revolution.) They are im granted a Soci...

Each state in the US has its own licensing requirements in order to be licensed as either a nurse or as a medical laboratory technologists. NO nursing employment agency can issue a visa, that is only done by the government. In general, a theft conviction would bara a person from entry to the USA. Th...

Can anyone tell me if the new changes to the Citizenship Act in Bill C-37, will apply to those children of a Canadian father that were born abroad before 1947? My father was born in Canada (as were his parents, grandparents, etc.) and he came to the States during the great depression of the 1930's f...

I have a good friend who married a Canadian woman, and moved to Canada with her when he retired. He is barred from getting a permanent residency visa, because of 2 DUI's he got in the early 1960's ( over 40 years ago). The Canadian government considers DUI's as a bar to residency and to eventual cit...

I am also wondering if this new law applies to me and to my two older siblings. My father (and his entire family line for 150 years back) was born in Canada. He came to the States, as an illegal alien, and just lived and worked there. He married an American woman, and had three kids from that marria...
