Thanks for your response. If I wait another year, will that increase my chances to get the ILR approved. I entered the UK in Oct 2006 on the second work permit, If I do not count my previous stay in the UK (in 2004-05), I will have to apply for the ILR at the end of five years starting from Oct 2006...

Thanks for all your responses. Will it be worth going to an immigration lawyer and asking him/her to prepare my application. Actually, I received a job offer from the UK on the 342nd day of my absence from the UK. But, the work permit approval took three months as home office officials misplaced som...

Getting ILR - 466 days absence from the UK

Hello, I first came to UK in 2004 on a 5 year work permit, but I left in mid 2005 as the company I was working for went insolvent. I then went back to India. I took a job in India after reaching there. I then came back to the UK on a different UK work permit (again valid for 5 years) in Fall 2006. I...

Re: Lost Original Documents by UK BA Home Office ----- HELP!

Sue them a million pounds or at-least have them pay for your travel to and back from India to get replacement of original from university. Can I take legal action against UKBA? Do you have any proof that you sent the original degree certificate in the application envelope? Did you send a cover lett...

So all please be aware that all what gets told to us is not always correct! That's typical of telephone customer service staff here in Britain :) (No Offence). Your concept of the "main passort" seems to be flawed. If all these passports are of same nationality, then the latest one is your "passport", rest all are just previous booklets (which can have valid visas). Moreover you have to be in the UK if your "passport" is in th...

I believe, once you get a new passport (or additional booklet as they call it in India), all your previous passports are invalid and you are need to show the latest one while leaving your home country and entering a different country. Even though some of the visas are stamped on the previous passpor...

and unless your wife and son remained in the UK during your absence neither will that. As stated by Paul, significant ties to the UK must be shown for the time of your absence . Thanks again for your response. To be honest, there were no "significant" ties to the UK in the 466 days period...

So, unless you can show your significant ties to the UK during your absence then ILR is unlikely on this occasion. You will need to wait until the end of 5 years starting entry in 2006. Provided that you continue to meet the requirements for ILR. Thanks for your response. The best I can do at the m...

You seem to think naturalisation and ILR are the same thing, they are not. You need to get ILR, then you can be naturalised. The rules you found are for naturalisation, not for ILR. For you to get ILR as a work permit holder you need to have spent a continuous period of 5 years lawfully in the UK. ...
